Book Description

March 1, 2008

With her hand-dyed fabrics, layering techniques, and free-form outlines, Lintault pushes the envelope of quilt-making. This lavishly illustrated celebration of her art gives form to the deeply personal and elusive inner workings of the artist’s mind. Drawing inspiration from nature, painters, philosophers, and travels throughout the world, her quilts tell timeless tales that are a culmination of these vast experiences and influences. In addition to experiencing the amazing scope of her work, readers will gain insight into her creative process which blends formal artistic principles along with inspiration and intuition. A brief review of an array of technical processes—sketching, fabric dyeing, layering, sewing, and appliqué techniques—is also included to further illuminate the design process.

4.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational, February 26, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: M. Joan Lintault: Connecting Quilts, Art & Textiles (Paperback)
I was so impressed by the cover of this book that I preordered it. I gave it four stars instead of five because, although I found it inspirational, it is not really a "how to" book. It seems more like an artist talking about the way she came to making unique and impressive quilts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Art Quilts to Admire!!, June 19, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: M. Joan Lintault: Connecting Quilts, Art & Textiles (Paperback)
Ms. Lintault describes how she developed as a fiber artist. Her philosophy is very inspiring. Finding your own voice is important but not always easy while you are being assaulted by others' images and ideas. But per her philosphy, if you continue on your own path you will be rewarded.
