5.0 out of 5 stars Melts in Your Mouth, not in Your Hand!, June 24, 2005
This review is from: M&M's Plain [52OZ Bag] (Misc.)
M&M's chocolate candy with a hard shell contains a perfect combination of a hard, crunchy coating with a delicious chocolate middle. What could be more perfect? M&M's original has spawned a number of off-shoots, which are equally delicious and interesting, but they are another story.

M&M's were first sold in 1941, and quickly became a favorite of soldiers because they could be carried into the field without deteriorating. After the war they become available to the public, and in 1948 their packaging changed from a tube to the brown paper wrapping we recognize today.

M&M's Peanut Chocolate Candy made its debut in 1954. Colors red, green and yellow were added to brown in 1960. Due to publicity related to another red coloring, red was removed for a time beginning in 1976, to the chagrin of thousands who liked the red colored M&M's. Red returned in 1987 thanks to the thousands and thousands of requests from customers.

M&M's have been into space; they have helped support charitable causes, and have won numerous awards. In one year the M&M's characters even passed the popularity of a certain well-known mouse with his own theme park.

All of these details may be secondary to the actual candy, but they make the candy more fun. M&M's has found itself in competition with hundreds and perhaps even thousands of different snack foods, and yet, over the years the candy remains one of my favorite snack foods, as well as one of the favorites of millions of people everywhere. There is something about the combination of the crunch when you bite into M&M's in combination with the chocolate inside that make this a snack that is hard to stop eating. Munch on!

5.0 out of 5 stars I love M&Ms, but this isn't a great deal., May 6, 2008

On an ounce for dollars basis, this looks like a good deal - but once you add the 10.50 it will cost to have them shipped to you, you may as well just buy them from a vending machine at $1 for a 1.69 ounce bag. I was disappointed when I calculated this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heidi Hearts M&Ms!, July 30, 2004
This review is from: M&M's Plain [52OZ Bag] (Misc.)
M&M's might all taste the same and not be very 'exciting' in relation to other candy but they're still a classic and will never get old or bad for that matter! I like a lot of the ones with peanuts and peanut butter but sometimes you just need a plain M&M to satisfy your sweet cravings. Anyway go with M&Ms, they're a classic for a reason!

I'm tired of people complaining that M&Ms are too boring, too old, too plain, too this, too that. Quit your belly-aching! They are the best bite-sized candies on the market, bar none. I gobble handfulls of these devils. They're tasty and believe it or not they are good for you, especially us ladies because we need so much calcium. I always take them on long or short car trips, even if I'm on my way to buy more! Just be careful not to let the ol' toofers get rotted out, but there again is the benefit of the calcium contained within the milk chocolate: strong choppers = little to no decay.
