I bought a friend one of these for Christmas in '06. About that time, our baby Lab has grown UP and she sheds a LOT!! So I called my friend and ask her how her Kone was doing. She said "DO not hesitate-buy one today, you'll be glad you did!" So I ordered one and I LOVE this thing! Like others here, I have found I don't have to drag around that wet/dry vac, getting up this dog/cat hair. Just go get the Kone.
RUN....don't walk and don't hesitate getting one. Sure the filter needs cleaning everytime, but it's worth it. The Kone doesn't weigh much and it has the cushioned end on it so it won't mar things up. A+A+A+A+A+A+A+A+!!!!

I FIRST SAW THIS CONE VAC IN THE SHARPER IMAGE STORE IN FLORIDA WHILE ON VACATION, AND ALMOST STUFFED IT IN MY SUITCASE I WAS SO EXCITED ABOUT THE MODERN DESIGN! GLAD I WAITED THOUGH IT'S EASIER TO GET IT UPS THROUGH AMAZON! I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS GREAT POWERFUL VAC, IT'S A POWERHOUSE AND LOOKS AWESOME ALL LIGHT UP IN IT'S BASE WHILE RECHARGING, I LOVE THE CLEAN DESIGN AND THE PRICE IS VERY GOOD FOR A STREAMLINED WORKING HORSE THAT KEEPS MY PLACE BEAUTIFULLY MODERN AND SHEADS A NIGHT LIGHT AND IS CONVIENENTLLY LOCATED OUT IN THE ROOM(NOT STUFFED IN A CLOSET OR BEHIND A SOFA)! BUY THIS YOU WILL LOVE IT! IT'S MY HOLIDAY GIFT FOR EVERYONE THIS YEAR!

The Kone is contemporary looking, but is a terrific vacuum. I use it to clean up hair on the bathroom floor and the mess the dogs leave when they eat. Kone gets it all!

My only complaint is that the filter is small so I have found that it needs to be emptied after nearly every use. Hopefully there are replacement filters available for purchase.

I just bought this - I do like it a lot. The best thing about it is the lack of cord, that it is lightweight, and pretty cute as vacuums go!

After reading the reviews here I was surprised by three things: (1) it is not as loud as I expected - there are much louder hand-helds; (2) the one I got which was the only one the store had in stock was chrome-ish color ("champaign," maybe), and certainly does have the little light feature. It shows up like magic from the internal space of the upper cone when you plug it in (neat)! (3) unfortunately, it is not as powerful as I was expecting.

Other disadvantages: it does need frequent emptying (especially if you've got a shedding dog), but this takes half a second. And it does blow away the stuff you are trying to vacuum up to some degree (a complaint I saw in the other-color reviews).

The best: it is so easy to just pick up/turn on/suck up some dog hair or little messes, and for vacuuming stairs, that I am way cleaner than my normal lazy self has previously allowed! Worth it if your expectations are moderate.

The colors other than white don't light up. So, if you want that, get the white one.

I just got one of these (in white, natch). My wife was mad because she remembers the old B&D rechargeable vacs that hardly worked at all. Me too. this isn't that. It works.

It is loud, though. I guess power comes with noise, and this is both (powerful and loud). Unlike the rechargeable vacs of old, though, this is actually worth having.

The white one (with the light), makes a very good nightlight. Looks like white LEDs in the base, that turn off when the vac is removed.

Elegant design, does double-duty as a nightlight, and works very well as a vac.

Seriously, what more could you want?

i first saw the white kone vacuum at sharper image in 2006. i bought one for my best friend (who LOVED it) but resisted getting one for myself b/c i didn't really need it. i wanted to buy it purely because of the beauty and design of the product (and i love karim rashid).

when i got a kitten, i realized that i needed a hand vac to prevent kitty litter from being tracked every where in the house. i searched sharper image and was so disheartened when i found out they didn't carry it anymore. well, i found it here on amazon and bought it immediately. the on/off button is also white and sits on the top of the kone. also, you have to seat the handheld correctly on the stand (bottom half of the kone) or it won't light up. this is a good added feature. i love the simple, sculptural design and i love that it lights up. i keep it in the kitty's room and sometimes she is confined to her room at night. i like that the product provides some light for her at night.

incidentally, the product works great. i've owned it for 2 months now and use it almost on a daily basis. it picks up stray litter, cat hair, and kitten kibble off my polished concrete floors. it is quite loud, and although it alarmed her at first, she has gotten use to the whirring sound.

This hand vac looks good and actually works quite well. I charge it and then unplug it. It stays charged for several days. I disliked all the other vacs I had because they were ugly and did not pick up well. They were just handy. This one looks sleek in the new kitchen. I just might buy another for the upstairs!

I wanted this device for a rather interesting, but still annoying little problem. It seems my husband is losing his hair at a pace that I cannot keep up with, particularly in our bathroom, where the flooring is white and very obvious when speckled with hair. The Kone sits on the edge of the tub and is ready to go at any time!!!! I no longer procrastinate dragging the vacuum out just to suck up a few hairs!!!! It was the perfect solution for a problem that has been bugging me for a very long time!

I was skeptical at first based on looks - it is an odd looking vacuum cleaner. But looks aren't everything, and this cleaner really works well. It is a little noisy, but its suction matches its growl. The base makes a great nightlight and also makes the vacuum readily accessible on something you don't mind leaving out in plain sight. Cleaning the filter is easy. Overall, I would say that this is the best handheld we have purchased since the demise of our old original Dustbuster from Black & Decker.

I got this vacuum as a christmas present and it is very powerful. It is lightweight too. I've owned other dustbusters by far this one is the best.I give the DirtDevil 6 stars.
