'Complete' is the key word!,
By 'Wild Bill' Magro (Parts Unknown) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The M14 Complete Assembly Guide (Paperback)
With the exception of two books on the subject, I currently own a copy of every M-14 related book that is commercially available today (make that three books) including a number of the military manuals and documents. Of all of them, this book is the by far and away the most comprehensive dis-assembly and re-assembly manual that is available - anywhere! It provides hints and tips about problems that the novice (and not so novice) user or 'field' stripper (field upto arsenal rebuilding) could potentially run into during the process. This is the kind of knowledge one could only (hope to) pick-up over time. This lays it all out in black and white!

Really is a "Complete" assembly guide,
This review is from: The M14 Complete Assembly Guide (Paperback)
This book shows you how to assemble and disassemble every single component of your M14 variant rifle, going into incredible detail. Every notch, every pin, and almost every add-on is photographed, and annotated step by step. Many people may never go into this much detail over their rifle (changing their barrel or receiver at home, etc.) but it's still good to know EVERY component, even if you can't break down the weapon that far.
Not as much a criticism as an observation, people looking for a lot of history, user experiences using the M14, and any other less technical informaiton will probably be dissappointed. This book is divided into two sections - Assembly and Disassembly. And that's it. On a side note, I ordered the book from Fulton Armory and I was surprised to find that it came signed by the two authors. It's already covered in grease and soot, so not much of a collector's item anymore (by its very nature, this book will get dirty!), but I thought it was a nice touch.

If you own an M1A, this book is a must. Hundreds of pictures, and detailed description of how the M1A operates. Note that the M1A is the civilian version of the M14.

Should ship with every M14,
By Asuka Langley (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The M14 Complete Assembly Guide (Paperback)
All M14/M1A type rifles need to be sold with this book. Its a very straight forward guide that has detailed pictures (not just drawings, actual hands doing the work), excellent written instructions, and layman enough that I knew what I was doing when my first M14 arrived. What I feel a bonus is that it the book starts with disassembly/reassembly, lots of pictures, and moves in order of how it should be done. Just pop a post-it note in the sections you need more reference and flip to it while going. Book is easy to read, pictures are clear, guided areas throughout. If you're looking to start at the beginning or even know what you're doing this book still has a numerous amount of information in easy to understand terminology.
Highly recommended. |
