M-42 Duster AA Walk Around, September 1, 2010
This review is from: M42 Duster - Armor Walk Around No. 5 (Paperback)
The M-42 Duster is certainly an odd looking vehicle. The hull chassis was from the M-41 Walker Bulldog light tank. The Anti Aircraft cannons were the reliable, WW2 proven 40mm Twin Bofors. In 1951 however, the jet age was beginning and optically sighted weapons such as these were quickly made obsolete. Over 3700 were built, and some were used in Vietnam in a ground support role.
The photographs, (all but two pages are in color) are clear, sharp, printed on high glossy paper. It is amazing how thorough the restoration is. Wheels, track, storage, engine, cannon, ammo clips, crew positions, personal weapons, 5 pages of color plates to show the paint schemes & markings. Not a ton of facts, stats or data, but this is a photo journal.
Highly recommended addition for all armor fans and modelers. This was not a perfect weapon system, but the book covering is pretty close.
