Quite good - not yet great,

I bought my MyVu video glasses a few months ago because I do a number of long train commutes each month and they sounded like just what I wanted. After using them for a few months I am still pleased that I bought them. They do exactly what I wanted them to do. I use them to watch iTunes TV shows, iTunes videos, and videos that I have converted to mpeg 4 (the required video format). Because you are stretching relatively few pixels out over a fairly large area, the resolution is not great - but still pretty good. Fine detail in a movie, like the instant messages received by cell phone in Casion Royale, are difficult to make out, but most things are OK. I am not enough of a video guy to know exactly why, but the videos I download directly from iTunes are considerably better than the ones I convert, even though the resolution is supposedly the same. The sound is terrific and the video is pretty good. The train that I ride has power plugs at each seat, so I use the 110 volt to mini-USB plug that plugs into the integrated port in the MyVu connector and I don't have to worry about running down the iPod battery. I also have the MyVu battery pack which takes AA batteries and it works fine too, for those times when there is no power plug available. I assume these kinds of products will get better over time, but for now, I am satisfied and would buy them again.

This is a review for a MyVu personal media viewer made for Ipod, solo edition.
Mfg Part#: PMV-1003i -Works with 5th GEN 30 GB, 60 GB, or 80 GB video iPod ONLY. -The battery pack in the picture is NOT included. -It projects a floating video image that makes you feel (in total darkness) as if you are sitting in and older movie theater in the center of the furthest row from the screen (It will NOT fill all of your eye view inside the lens). -You do not need to charge your MyVu, it powers itself from your Ipod. -Myvu comes equipped with small, medium and large earbuds and nose pads to ensure they'll be the perfect fit. -You can control your image contrast, brightness and volume with myvu's pendant control the only drawback is that it has no play and pause button (newer models do have it) -This model offers a mid translucent view of the external world, meaning you will not be completely disconnected from your surroundings, you are able to look up or down from the screen and see around you (very convenient to use on the gym). -If you wear prescription lenses this devise may not work for you, MyVu offers correction lens attachments for the viewer. -Make sure to set your Ipod = Movie video settings = TV out = ON, for your MyVu to work correctly. Overall I am very happy with this model. It deserves a 5 star.
