1.0 out of 5 stars A lot for almost nothing
It looks nice in the picture -- it isn't. This is a very cheap piece of flexible plastic. It's not only $10 PLUS shipping, but once you get it, they want $7 (yes, again PLUS shipping) to engrave it. But you can just go to your local jeweler, right? No -- the name tage is not actually even metal it's plastic so jewelers can't do it. Why pair this with a $200 stethoscope?

I wasn't sure what to expect after reading the other reviews - but here's what I found. The ID tag is plastic. There are two options - engraving or a handwritten tag, both of which have an adhesive on the back to attach to the plastic yoke. The engraved option is an additional $7 and requires mailing back to Littman. The brochure that comes with the tag says it is aluminum and can be engraved locally. I went the cheaper route and used the handwritten adhesive label.

Two more items - this item is eligible for Amazon prime free shipping. And there are English instructions but it took me five minutes to find them. They are not in the booklet, they are on the back of the paper packaging.

3.0 out of 5 stars Serves the purpose, March 13, 2009

Seller got it out quickly-no problen with that. Was a bit disappointed that the engravable plate was plastic not metal--and that this information was not in the product description. Directions for putting the tag on the stethescope could be clearer.

The description said that it fit all Littman and Littman type stethescopes. I have a Prestige cardiology stethescope and it did not fit around the double tubes that lead to the single tube so I had to put the straps inside the tubes, causing the nametag to stick out a bit and not lie flat. Since the Littman cardiology stethescopes are designed the same way, I imagine that one with a Littman cardiolgy stethescope would have the same problem.

It does, however, serve its purpose.

3.0 out of 5 stars ID tag, May 14, 2009
Tag is nice enough, & company delivered it pretty quickly. I was surprised, however, at the cost of shipping, as it wasn't overnight and it was so much more than the product itself. My fault for not paying enough attention to the shipping cost. The idea, however, that the cost of the shipping and handling was 3 to 4 times the cost of the product, and also more (significantly so) than the shipping cost of the stethoscope was unsettling when I realized it.

4.0 out of 5 stars does the job., August 7, 2011

This review is from: MABIS 3M Littmann Stethoscope Identification Tag, Black (Health and Beauty)
Being that I am beginning nursing school, I wanted a high quality stethescope, which we all know comes with the chance of being stolen, so i figured why not get a name tag...
Most of the reviews are right, the tag you get is plastic. They give you a form to send to littman thats 7.00 and 2-3 weeks to come back, school comes quick for me so I had to find somewhere to do it for me.
Its rather hard to find someone who engraves on things that aren't metal but "Things Remembered" does, so if you have a store in a mall or close to your home try that. I found that the actual tag isn't that bad, it does the job. To be honest if you want better quality then be willing to spend more money. I tried to pull my tag off just to see the quality and it held on, so unless someone cuts it off youll be fine.

It's a fine accessory, and it does the job, but it really should come with the stethoscope. That said, it is a must-have.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice, professional way to tag your stethoscope, November 23, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a product that I would recommend if you want to look sharp (and if you are a health professional, chances are you do). The one thing that I immediately noticed from this was a complete lack of English instructions. They have instructions in French, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Norse, Portuguese, Hebrew, Japanese...It had every language covered - except this one. Ridiculous? Ummm *nods head*. Yeah. Otherwise, good. Oh, since it lacks English instructions, let me clue you in on how to install this on your Littmann. The strap needs to go completely under the part where you stick on the tag. Don't allow it to go through the hole or else you won't get the tag on properly. Don't know why they have a hole there in the first place. You'll know what I'm talking about once you're holding it in your hands. Hope this helps.

1.0 out of 5 stars JUNK, December 30, 2009

Save your money. This is a piece of junk. You pay for it once - $10 - then you have to send it back and pay again to get it engraved. I was stupid enough to try this twice for different stethoscopes and never received any of the engraved labels back.

3.0 out of 5 stars Stethoscope ID tag, May 22, 2009

Like the product. The main part of the tag seems sturdy and will stay in place, but am concerned about the stick on name plate. It seems like it is already beginning to loosen at the edges (because of the bending of the main body of the tag). I love that I was able to have the aluminum name plate engraved. That is a plus. Overall, I would probably purchase this item again, unless another, more permanent engravable option is available.

5.0 out of 5 stars put this on so your steth doesn't walk away, March 21, 2009

very important accessory. especially since many of us students/residents/attendings all rock the cardio III, it helps to keep them straight in case you put it down.

you can take the name plate to get it engraved or you can just right your name on it. since i'm just a med student, getting it engraved at this point seemed a bit pretentious to me.
