Book Description

THE MACHINE, the giant sprawling leviathan that has devoured the Earth, where humanity has degenerated into mindless slaves and amongst them, one man fights to survive the threats surrounding him on all sides…

Now Proofread by Sharon Davidson from Type it Write Transcription.

There is only THE MACHINE and those who live within it. Told through the unconventional, simple language of blue 7, one of the millions of workers who scurry through its metallic entrails, THE MACHINE tells of a brutal regime and the beginnings of rebellion within...
Working without purpose and without end, humanity lives and slaves to maintain the huge mechanical monster, beyond which there is nothing. Blue 7, has spent his lifetime working and wondering the function of THE MACHINE, but someone has noticed him, and slowly his world begins to unravel in a blood-soaked violent struggle that threatens not only him, but THE MACHINE itself…

“After some fantastic feedback from many readers around the world, I decided to have THE MACHINE proofread and re-edited. Luckily I found Type it Write Transcription, and they have done an amazing job of bringing the novel to a whole new level. Many thanks to everyone who has been downloading both versions and please feel free to upgrade to these new accessible editions. It’s all still there in a wonderful new form. The dark disturbing narration, the hidden secrets and the brutal story all remain intact.” DGJ 28/07/2012

THE MACHINE is a controversial dark novel. It has been described as ‘the new 1984 or Brave New World’ ‘a Modern Classic’ and ‘a dark masterpiece’, but also ‘subversive and dangerous’ and ‘sick and highly disturbing’.
THE MACHINE is available in two versions, The Industrial Edition containing the unconventional text, and The Easy Read Edition, the same story only written in Standard English.

WARNING: Contains explicit material, graphic sexual and violent content.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent read although not for the faint hearted November 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This book is a superb modern parable, darker and more visceral than 1984 or Brave New World, it is unrelenting, brutal and at points uncomfortable reading. But for me, the greatest thing is that THE MACHINE has made me question everything about my own life and the world. In its own cunning way, it explores the most complex issues in a subtle simple style. 7's struggle will haunt me for a long time to come, and I thought this was one of the best books I have ever read. It is not however, for the faint-hearted and should be approached with caution.
Please do not be put off from any negative comments on this book or for the very talented author. The description warns of content within it, and although explicit, it draws the reader into the world of 7 and of life itself. Some may struggle with this and it may be a difficult read for those with a closed mind, however if one opens one's mind and is accepting of the story, the talent of the author and can accept that sometimes a safe bubble in life is in fact not such a safe bubble, I think you will thoroughly enjoy it.
I can also recommend D G Jones's other work. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Needs to be packaged as a trilogy May 19, 2014

Would have been 5 starts if I could buy the complete trilogy as a single purchase (doesn't even need to be discounted).

1.0 out of 5 stars THE MACHINE......... April 14, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
THE MACHINE is a very slow, drawn out, and just when you think it is getting interesting, it gets boring. Part of the problem may be it is written in first person, so there is never any description from others.. You only know what the main character is saying and thinking, and never from any other point of view.

5.0 out of 5 stars About time!!! November 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Wow, what a book!
I would exercise caution with some more delicate readers used to more polite books, but if you want a full-on life altering read, look no further. I have read several other Kindle books by D.G Jones and I must say, he rocks!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Strange but oddly enticing November 1, 2012
By Kevin
Format:Kindle Edition
A first time reader of this particular author, and I am totally hooked! A very different plot written in a mind expanding way, not for the faint hearted however this really has opened my mind to a new way of thinking. I would highly recommend this book, it should be on everyones '10 books to read before you die' list! Give this book a try, you only live once, what do you have to loose??

3.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't seem to get moving December 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I haven't read DG Jones before. This book never seems to get moving. it would hold my interest better if there was some hint about the future and some history on how this world came about. I'm waiting but there's no indication that the author is going to address this

1.0 out of 5 stars Pure crap May 4, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm not sure how this book got into the public domain even as an ebook. Cynically I can't tell if the degraded grammar and spelling is a stylistic trick to hide the lack of depth and character development or if it reflects the authors actual level of language and thinking. This reminds of one of those examples of modern art where some genius knocks over a bucket of paint and all the want to be art critics explode with enthusiasm lest they reveal that it looks like spilled paint.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely talented author!! November 2, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I have read other books by this author but considered this to be the best. The author writes in an adapted style which is outside of the 'norm' but this compliments the dark, graphic style of the read; adding to the atmosphere. A very cleverly written piece of work from D G Jones, whom I hope to see more of in the future. Definitely would recommend you read other stuff written by him too, it certainly opens your mind!!!
