This review is from: MADD: Honor Them All - Mothers Against Drunk Driving (Audio CD)
"Honor Them All" is a wonderful musical collection. For fans of Carole King, it is REQUIRED since, to my knowledge, it has her only instrumental recording, "Blue Modal Morning Alive" that is utterly gorgeous. Anyone who has been touched by the beauty of Carole's piano will want this track that reflects such strength, courage and beauty. Some of the tracks are familiar such as "Let the River Run," Carly Simon's wonderful theme from the film "Working Girl." Some of the artists are also familiar such as America who include the marvelous track "Nothing's So Far Away (As Yesterday)," a reflective track that suits the overall theme that we must protect our children from drunk drivers because once they're gone, there is no returning. Janis Ian sings the title track recorded for this collection, a touching midtempo song with an uplifting chorus. Beach Boys' Brian Wilson has an instrumental that, like Carole King's, originated from the "Songs Without Words" collection; "This Isn't Love" is a bouncy piano workout. I was unfamiliar with Gordon Kennedy, but find myself returning repeatedly to his lovely melody "Change the World," "I would be the sunlight in your universe; you would think my love was really something good if I could change the world." Tuck & Patti offer a sweet easy listening track "Dream," "Lack of vision is a dangerous thing." Country sweetheart Lorrie Morgan wails on the emotional weeper "If You Came Back From Heaven." The Rippingtons sound like the Beach Boys with their airy harmonies on an acoustic version of the otherwise instrumental "Black Diamond." With Yanni & Liz Story also adding a couple of tracks, this set is excellent musically as well as supporting an important cause. U Snooze; U Lose with this little gem. Enjoy!
