I purchased this mount because I managed to lose the original car mount in a rental car while out on a business trip. The mount works great and is exactly like the mount that came with my original Magellan 1412 Roadmate. I haven't had any problems with its suction force, and that's after installing it in a dozen different rental cars. Works great.

I was apprehensive about buying this mount since it was obviously not the same model as the one that originally came with my Magellan Maestro 4040. However, given the fact that my original mount fell apart, I was willing to give it a try.

Now that I've received the mount and have been able to test it out, I'm extremely pleased. The suction cup is smaller and seems to adhere more strongly than the original mount. Additionally, the swivel-ball connection point allows for the screen of the GPS to be positioned in a number of ways the old mount would not allow.

In addition to the above 2 great points, the price was extremely reasonable, especially compared to what Magellan is selling. The only thing you have to keep in mind is that the mounting bracket that attaches to the GPS is not included with the mount. You'll have to save it from your old mount, or buy a new one separately.

The Magellan Suction Cup Mount does what it is supposed to do and no more. The only thing is, I do not think that it is a good idea to mount it on the front window. The changes in temperature to the front window (sun, cold, rain etc.) may cause the mount to fall off. It is best to use an adhesive disk mounted on the dashboard. This should keep the mount in place. Be sure that the right mount is purchased for the model of GPS unit that you have.

The suction cup mount is just perfect, I highly recommend it. My original suction mount that was supplied with this GPS,broke. But this new style is far better.

Don't go for the inexpensive. Get the original equipment.
I was looking for a suction cup mount for my GPS. I find 'em for $30, $35, $40 bucks and I'm thinnking that's a lot of money for a piece of plastic. Well, then I see this one for $8.75, and think, that's more like it.
Well, it worked just like the original I had before. Stuck that GPS right up where I wanted it.
BUT, nobody wrote in the decription of the mount that it was a one time use item. I transferred it over to my wife's car, a week or so after getting it, and the suction cup would not stick. I tried a bunch of different ways to ensure I didn't have some kind of a problem in sealing it to the windshield, and then made sure everything, windshield and suction cup, were clean. The thing doesn't create suction because it was very cheaply made and the lever doesn't pull the center away from the glass to cause the suction. It now sits in my truck, worthless.
Don't go for the inexpensive. Get the original equipment.

I don't really recommend this product because it broke quite easily.

I may have received a defective model, not sure.

The product , while not identical to the original, fits, looks, and works just as well, and COSTS 70% less.What more could you ask for?

The GPS I am usign is a couple of years old and the mount is plastic, and broke. I ordered a new mount, it arrived in time, was inexpensive, and was exactly what I needed. The item arrrived promptly
