5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent flashlight - good price
I keep one of these flashlights in both of my vehicles. They provide a lot of light from a fairly small package. Buying the "C" battery version allows you all of the benefits of a Maglight - brightness, durability, etc. but its light weight makes it less cumbersome to carry. You won't find a better flashlight that this.

1.0 out of 5 stars Maglite S2C016 2-C Battery Flashlight bought from Amazon
I must have had just plain bad luck on the two flashlights I ordered. The other customer reviews are very good. On one flashlight I was able to insert the batteries and screw on the tailend, but I noticed there was no spare light bulb as was promised. The other flashlight I cannot screw the tail part on despite all my effort. I will have someone stronger than me try...

Mag lite flashlights to me are the best that are on the market today for the money. This 3 "C" cell flashlight is alot more lightweight than its heavier counterparts and is very bright, don't let its size fool you this is a very powerful flashlight and it is also constructed from high quality aircraft aluminum and is waterproof. I give it my full endorsement to anyone who is interested.

The 2 c-cell MagLight is durable and reliable. Being a pilot I use a flashlight for all night flights. For safety's sake I cannot afford to have a flashlight with a flimsy switch, cheap construction etc. Mag Instruments makes a great light period.

The 2 c-cell model is a bit large for the average kitchen drawer or auto glove compartment. But it works great for aviation and should be equally suited for boating, camping etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Maglite for Safety!, April 15, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
There are smaller and brighter lights out there, as some reviewers have noted. But there is one application that the 4 cell Maglite is good for, and in fact, is made for.

By replacing the standard bulb that comes with the Maglite with the 3 watt LED upgrade (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GL95IQ)you get the ultimate and in almost all cases legal weapon for keeping in your car for deterring and dealing with attackers. The super bright 3 watts of power effectively blinds attackers and by itself is an effective deterrent. But in addition, the big, heavy, rugged, metal body of the Maglite itself makes a great night stick, as cops have known for years.

The proper hold is to grasp the light while holding your arm straight down so that the light points to the rear. Then raise your arm so the light is above or resting on your shoulder and pointing ahead of you, keeping a finger on the switch to turn it on and off. Held this way you can aim the light easily towards attackers faces, and if needed, a simple and quick flick of the wrist will crack them with the back of the light.

I keep one in in each of my cars for my wife and daughters, and gave an extra one to my daughter who lives alone in the city. She loves it for checking out things that go bump in the night. She says it lights up the backyard or hallway like daylight. And I have several cop friends who have bought one based upon using mine.

5.0 out of 5 stars The big and lighter big flashlight., July 25, 2001
By
I've owned one of these for almost 8 years now. It is the best flashlight I ever purchased. I bought it when I was in college and worked as a Student Auxiliary for the college Police Department. My flashlight has suffered a great deal more then most flashlights can handle. It's been dropped, run over, used as a hammer, used to pound in tent stakes, constantly taken on road trips, I can't even remember all of the things I've done to it. All I can tell you is it still works. The best thing about the 6C is that it is lighter and thinner than the 6D but still is big enough and bright enough to get the job done. I even bought one for my best friend to keep in his truck.

To keep it working well you should occasionally apply a small mount of Vaseline to the threads to keep the threads and O-rings lubricated. If you do that it should last you a long time.

I have several D-cell Mag Lights and one AA-cell Mag light, but the former were too large and the latter too small to grab and run check on this or that when the need arose. The C-cell light is just the right size. I was pleased to see a History channel Egyptologist carrying the same one, a few months after I bought mine.

The best 2 C-cell flashlight I've owned. Fits in the glovebox easily so your kids and wife won't "borrow" it.

This flashlight is well made, very sturdy, and very durable. It's a much better product than the cheap plastic flashlights you can get for $1 a piece that break two weeks after you buy them. I purchased this Mag when it was on sale, and now wish I had bought a few more.
