Maglite is a good product, but the quality has changed. Metal case seems thinner, weight appears lighter, and switch has lost its rugged feel.

What do I need to say. This is a mag lite. Before these lights flashlights might work and they might not.

I have had mine (silver) for about 3 years and I have only had to replace the batteries twice i think. Now granted I don't use the thing that much. I like the 2D and 4D because when you buy a pack of batteries you don't have an odd one left in the pack. This thing is vary tough, I've used it to fend off wild deer, the occasional more the unfriendly dog as well as some unfriendly people (in other words it makes a good club too). Not to mention dropping it in the creek unmteen times while camping every now and then.
I don't know of any disadvantaged it has other than size, witch is kind of impossible to do anything about... All and all a good grab-n-go light source... and club ;)

I purchased three of these flashlights for my family and choose the dark red color so they would stand out as a "special flashlight". Mag Lights are an excellent build, very sturdy, but really outdated with their old style filament bulbs. To make these truly long lasting and super efficient on battery power for emergency situaltions, I purchased the Terralux TLE-6E high power LED drop in replacement bulb for each. WOW, what a diference in brightness, light color (very white), and beam throw. And top all that off with many hours of increased battery life. These are truly the go-to flashlight for emergencies now !

Hi guys. I'm from Australia and over here we pay 120+ for a little one of these torches. This size torch would probably be around $200. To be able to get this for just over $20 I was amazed. It is really good quality, very sturdy and works perfectly. I would suggest this to anyone, especially overseas buyers

I own many versions of MagLight (3, 4, 5 cells, and the mini light). I also owned various filters and LED lights bought separately. This is one of the standards to people who camp out alot. Every single one of my MagLites can interchange its parts. Aside from the light being "cell" specific, you can switch it back and forth between cells. This specific color and size is rare, and I bought directly from the MagLite store, so don't buy into scalpers and the such selling for 40+ dollars (this was around 25~30 for me). Add in an LED light for better battery management, with filters to play around with friends or a church group like I do. Overall hasn't let me down yet!
Pros - Great balance between heavy and light - Interchangeable parts (LED, filters, back replacement, springs, light replacement) - Legacy and Future compatible - Very durable, can be used as a weapon at this length Cons - Can be heavy and large for smaller users - Would be awesome if it came with a holster. Buy separately - Some MagLite versions come with LED's preinstalled. Buy separately - MagLite specific parts always mention cell specific specifications, but parts are all compatible. |
