This review is from: MAKING IT STICK - How to Throw Edged and Improvised Weapons for Sport and Self-Defense (DVD)
This is an older training film by Michael Janich that I have eyed for a number of years to buy, but have always decided not to purchase it for one reason or another. Prior to watching this DVD I have always been very skeptical of the art and science of knife throwing for self-defense, always believing this is a technique for Hollywood movie makers, the three ring circus and hobbyist. During the DVD Michael Janich challenges the viewers to the capabilities of using a blade for throwing for defense; and he made me a believer; that this technique under the right scenario and or condition has a place for employment in-extremis situations. Michael Janich proves multiple times in the DVD, the deadly effectiveness of this self-defense method. The most enlightening portion of the DVD is the last 15-20 minutes were Michael Janich covers improvised weapons and how to employ them as effectively as a throwing knife. I highly recommend this DVD for the blade combatant to view and incorporate these techniques to their tool bag of fighting skills.
