Review
Malachy Murray s Unique New York is an amazing panorama of this great city s history. His fascinating book gives us enough character, story, and style to fill a dozen novels. Murray is a master storyteller. --Thomas Kelly, author of Empire Rising, The Rackets, and Payback

Product Description
MODERN DAY DRUID GIVES TOURS OF NEW YORK CITY. Malachy is as unique as his New York is. 70+ short stories packed into 250 pages, about the greatest city of all time as told by one of the greatest storytellers of our time. Rated as New York City's #1 tour guide; this one time boxer, sometime bounty hunter and now-and-again actor is now thankfully a writer. Captain Malachy takes us on one of his wild rides through New York City where time and tide await us. His tours are loaded with brief nuggets of historical gems, accentuated with his brash yet sharp wit and charm. Easy to read (Malachy is a self professed high school grad with a library card) and even more fun to follow. If you can't make it to the Circle-Line Sightseeing cruises in New York City this summer to see Malachy live, this book is a close second to a great New York experience and THE ULTIMATE NEW YORK SOUVENIR.

5.0 out of 5 stars Leave it to the Irish to keep the legends alive!, May 25, 2007
By M. A. Savino (Long Island) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This was an awesome read. A true description of the pioneers of this great city. It was well researched, funny and moving! Who better to tell the tales of this Great City than one of it's very own Sons! Learning about the precision of the construction of the Empire State bld. How it finshed 45 days early, under budget and out of the 10,000,000. bricks ordered to build it there was only one left over. It can be viewed in the lobby of this bld. How Robert Moses the master mind of roads, tunnels and bridges was himself afraid to drive and never had a license. And how a young boy only 15 from Staten Island found a different way to make money other than woking on the family farm. Cornelius Vanderbilt started out with saving his money to buy a boat and transport people to work accross the river. That boat lead to ferry's and then to the railroad. The third richest man of all time went from rags to riches. It was such an inspiring book. This book is full of many more interesting stories like these. I loved it!

5.0 out of 5 stars New York Talk, May 30, 2007
By Jake Vigors (London England) - See all my reviews
Malachy Murray is New York. His vibrant prose lifts off the page and speaks to you directly. It's as if you're there in the city, or even better circling Manhattan on the Circle Line listening to his stories. If ever a New Yorker had a voice this is it. He condenses histories into digestible mouthfulls and levens it with mordant New York wit. After a main course of Pete Hamill's "Forever" I found this a perfect desert to the city's long turbulent and fascinating history. His love for his home town is genuine and profound without the tang of jingoism that so many American books display. He was there on 9/11. He was serving his country in the Lebanon in 1982 when his barracks were attacked by a suicide bomber. He was a boxer. He was a bounty hunter. He is New York's best tour guide. Thankfully for us he is now a writer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything you need to know about New York!!!!, May 23, 2007
Malachy Murray's narrative makes this the most unique, to-the-point, must- have, history book on the city of New York..ever written. From the preface to the end of this book you are brought in on a magical history tour which Malachy is famous for and you learn all the why's and how's by a man who is the greatest writer to board a sea craft since Mark Twain...You trust him...because his love is genuine and you will, as I have, come to love the city more. A book for all ages and if your child has trouble with local history here's a narrative that teaches us... you are what people think you are.....MUST READ.
