"When this album was originally released in 1977, some claimed that Jerry Doucette was going to be the next guitar hero. Although he never reached those heights, his debut album MAMA LET HIM PLAY stands as a fine representation of mainstream rock in the late '70s. While it may be slightly reminiscent of Steve Miller and the Doobie Brothers, the album is surprisingly consistent and is carried by two strong singles, "Down the Road" and "Mama Let Him Play." MAMA LET HIM PLAY made only a small impact in the States, but it went platinum in Canada."

Top notch Rock & Roll -- great 12-string licks!,

I don't know what happened to Doucette since this recording. I wish he was still recording music as good as this CD. His great guitar work is unrivaled within his style. His vocal harmonies with his instrument are superb. While his recording doesn't grind any political or social axe, it is a perfect example of what music as entertainment should deliver: a rocking good time!

Wow! I thought that the Eagles' "Hotel California" CD and Bread's "Best of" CD were good! Well, this one is AWESOME! From "Down the road" to "Love is gonna find you" Specially his smash hit "Mama let him play"! Like Doucette says "this is serious rock and roll" Thank you Jerry for all the enjoyment listening to your CD.
