What Took Them So Long??, April 8, 2006
This review is from: MAN FROM UNCLE:SEASON 1 (DVD)
It's about time that one of the best (if not the best) and one of the most influential (if not the most influential) TV programs of the 1960's finally made it to DVD. I'm not giving anything away here, but for those of us who still remember it, who can forget the opening sequence of The Vulcan Affair when a THRUSH team breaches UNCLE HQ security slick and clean--or do they? There is not a single word of dialogue spoken during the first five minutes of that episode and none is needed--the theme music alone keeps your adrenaline pumping. It is the best opening sequence I have ever seen, bar none. I still get goosebumps whenever I watch it.
Yep, the cowboy and other kid shows that influenced me as a young lad in the late 50's and early 60's would now have to take a back seat and play second fiddle to a new sophistication promised by the MFU. DISCLAIMER: The previous sentence holds true except for Sky King's niece, Penny, who NEVER played second fiddle or took a back seat to anything or anybody as far as I'm concerned.
Now if they would just release the first (and only) season of T.H.E. Cat on DVD.
