Product Description

This slate plaque is handcarved with the sacred Tibetan mantra Om Mani Padme Hum and is ready to hang anywhere to generate auspicious energy. Om Mani Padme Hum (Hail to the Jewel in the Lotus) is a traditional invocation to the Buddha of Compassion. In Tibet, patronage of stone carvers who produce mantra stones is a traditional way to gain good karma. These stones were usually placed along a pilgrim's pathways around temples and other Buddhist monuments to inspire them and others on their spiritual journey. The plaque is pre-strung with a durable cotton cord, ready to hang. (10 1/2"w x 5"h)

I bought this piece as a Christmas present,
for my mother who is a practicing Buddhist.
It is a beautifully simplistic work.
The Mantra is carved into the slate and the weight
of the plaque is borne by a leather cord.
Used inside or out, it is a lovely tablet.
