4.0 out of 5 stars WAR GAMES, November 22, 2006
This review is from: MAR, Vol. 6 (v. 6) (Paperback)
Ginta is the captain of Mar, and because of this, if he loses even one battle in the War Games against the Chess Pieces, his side will lose and there will be noone to check the spread of evil throughout Mar Heaven. There's not really a lot to summarize about this sixth volume because its entirety is taken up with fights....period. We do get a good guage of our heroes power, especially with Dorothy and Ed. There are also clues that Phantom is not really who is manipulating the situation, but a mysterious woman. The art is very appealing and Anzai is a master of action, which is very important in this type of manga. You are never confused even in the heat of battle. His art ranges all over the place in terms of character design from cute to sexy. There's not a lot of plot here, but Anzai compensates this with Mar's goal to save the world, even though as individuals, they might not be up to the task.
