Being a huge fan of mechanical watches, I was happy to find this.

Like I said there is no problem with size, but if it got any smaller than this, it could be mistaken for a girls watch.

It will be very bright at night, can be very easy to read the time.

I decided to buy this for myself as a Birthday gift this past July. I was looking for a diver but when I saw this Marathon with a 17 jewel movement and T25 tubes for $150 I had to jump on it. There are some good and not so good things about this watch.

    First the good
Light Weight due to its hard resin plastic case

Good size for a military watch (I'm not in the military nor have I ever been) but I can see why, they made the case this size 36mm.

Great lume the T25 tubes light up nicely and doesn't require any light source to charge them up.

    Now the bad
The crystal is your plastic or acrylic which can be buffed out using toothpaste or polymatch haven't used it yet.

Marathon claims it has a 36 hour Power Reserve? The most I've gotten out of it is 24 hours which is still not what the company says it is.

All in all its a good watch but lacks a good solid crystal and lack of power reserve. For what I paid at the time $150 its not a bad watch with a mechanical Swiss Made movement (don't know who makes it) and T25 tubes.

My new favorite watch. I had been wanting something with tritium for a while, but most are out of my price range. This one has the minor disadvantage of needing to be wound up regularly, which gets interesting since I often forget to do so - but I'm getting better at it. One of the chores of switching from a battery lifestyle to a manual watch. So far mine has kept excellent time(it's no atomic timepiece, but it doesn't seem to loose more than a minute or 2 a week from what I've seen of mine). It was much smaller than I expected, much smaller than my other watches. Perhaps a side effect of that was that the strap was incredibly short - I could barely get it on in the last hole! So that got swapped out very quickly for a NATO-style strap which was about an inch longer. It can be hard to find straps small enough for this watch, most common straps are 18mm or 21mm or whatever, while this watch uses a very small 16mm strap - not many options of the "tactical" variety, and I could find none that had blacked out hardware like what came with the watch.

I bought this watch for my boyfriend for his birthday and he absolutely loves it. It is not too big on his wrist, the cloth strap is very comfortable, the dial glows brightly in the dark and I just love the look. Nothing negative to say about this item; simply great.

I'll start out by saying that I love military/aviation/marine watches. So when I saw the Marathon watch it immediately went on my must get list. The Marathon gen purpose's design is based on MIL-SPEC MIL-W-46374 used in the Vietnam war era which is a design that predates the GG-W-113. What truly sets this watch apart though is that it utilizes the best parts of both modern watches and historical watches of that era. The crystal is true to history and is domed acrylic like its historical counterpart. However unlike watches of that era which were made to be disposed of once they were broken and hence did not have a caseback that could be opened, the Marathon gen purpose has a snap-on caseback. This allows you to service the watch (every 5 years like you should any mechanical watch to ensure lasting running condition). Furthermore, unlike the trend of modern military watches which utilize quartz technology this watch is a mechanical watch which I greatly appreciate as with great care a mechanical watch can last generations. The movement is a very solid movement and like most handwound movements should be wounded up once a day. It is highly accurate and maybe I was lucky but mine stays within +/-10 a day. If you are a stickler about your watch keeping time to the second though you might probably want a quartz watch which will be more accurate than a mechanical. The tritium tubes offer moderate brightness in the dark. Unlike luminova watches, these tubes require no charging and will not decrease in intensity over time in the dark so it is very useful for people who need to read watches in the dark a lot. However you should be aware that after about 10 years or so the tritium will begin to fade and cease to illuminate the watch.

So in summary should you get this watch? If you like military watches and mechanical watches, I don't see how you can pass on it.

Small, simple, nice, for men or women. Cheap. Great movement & lume. I plan to buy a couple more for gifts. Good starter watch for kids. And it's not quartz!

A really simple handwound military watch with tritium lume that I wear almost every night. I think these are expensive given their features, but there is something attractive about the crisp numbering, markings, brand and clean hands that make this watch one of my favorites. I have bought a few other watches which look like this, but none of them are its equal. Four stars.

Being a huge fan of mechanical watches, I was happy to find this. It looks great, functions as it should and is accurate. The one thing that I was disappointed with is the strap is really short and I have to use the very last hole to wear it. A longer strap would be much better. Ordering a new longer strap now. I would recommend this watch.

It is smaller than expected, it is the only flaw here.

It is light and practical, accurate.

If you like bigger watch, then it is not yours.
