Product Description

Leaving his old life behind in the wake of the House of M crisis and the Super Hero Civil War, Clint Barton joined his comrades in the underground NEW AVENGERS just in time to travel with them to Japan. There, Maya Lopez had been stranded, and subjected to the brutal attentions of the ninja clan known as THE HAND and ELEKTRA. With his fellow AVENGERS, he defeated the ninjas, and fought ELEKTRA to a standstill, only to discover that she was in reality a SKRULL imposter. Add this classic duo of articulated action figures to your collection! Perfect for display, but built for play, these figures are ready for crime-fighting poses! Includes interchangeable parts.

Normally, I'm biased against Hasbro's attempt at Marvel Legends. There's just something about them that lack appeal to me, but this set is well worthwhile.

First off, there are two great ninja characters and as ninjas, they come with a nice arsenal. Between the two, they share two swords, two sai, and a pair of nunchucks. They both have swappable parts as well, Elektra with interchangeable hands and Ronin with an unmasked head.

And now, the bad. Articulation on Elektra especially seems to be a little stiff mostly around the elbows and hip areas. I hate how Ronin has absolutely no articulation in his hands, which keeps him forever with weird hands. Also, paint is applied on Ronin's gi and his masked head looks really small compared to his body and his feet are too large.

Overall though, this set should be considered for a purchase.

Hey there! Just thought I'd give an objective take for everyone considering making a purchase of the Ronin/Elektra 2-pack. I've been collecting Marvel Legends figures for around three years now, so I figure it wouldn't hurt to have one more opinion on the market.

Now, this was the very first 2-pack I purchased under the Hasbro license, and I must say I was not disappointed. After a lot of hit and [mostly] miss, Hasbro really came into their own with the 2-pack series of figures. It was a great was to get both well-known characters out to a demanding audience and introduce them to new and less-appreciated characters, as is illustrated in this pack.(

I'll start with Elektra first. She is by far superior to the Series IV version in almost EVERY way. She actually has feasible articulation (unlike Toy Biz's initial fascination with butt-joints in women figures), and is perfectly scaled. Allowing her to switch out hands REALLY ups the posability factor, and both heads look sound on her. The only qualms about the figure are that her toes aren't articulated (which, when you're a well known acrobatic character, is a must), and her sais are INCREDIBLY thin/tiny and WILL get lost if you aren't careful. Other than that, great figure.

Now, on to Ronin. This is the male version of Ronin (not Echo, but rather the current run of the character, where Hawkeye dons the mantle.) And by God, the figure is FANTASTIC. I never thought I'd see ths character plasticized, and would have to resort to generic ninja toys as replacements forever. This figure is amazingly well done, very detailed, and well articulated.

While it's great to have a 6-inch figure of Clint Barton as Ronin, we already have a red (and a white) Elektra figure from the Marvel Legends Toy Biz days. And those figures were far superior to the Hasbro figures that are out now. But whereas Toy Biz seemed to favor the more recognizable characters, Hasbro trumps that with more obscure and exciting characters, such as Ronin. I would have preferred a variant of this set with the character Echo, who kills Elektra and reveals the Skrull Elektra that begins SECRET INVASION, but at least there's a Skrull Elektra variant out there. An idea for next time, Hasbro!
