Simple device that does the job.,

After reading the other reviews, I had to speak up. I've tried it all: the garage bump, the stop light type system, etc. You mount this unit on the ceiling and point it to a specific point on your car so you know where to stop. In my case, I point it at the dash. When I enter the garage, the laser turns on and because the laser is very bright, you can follow it as it tracks along your hood. If you set it up right, this helps you set the distance between your cars or the side garage wall. For example, you can set it to run only the seam of your hood or the middle crease if you have one. Then when it reachs the dash, I watch for it to land in a specific area and stop. A successful park, usually with only an inch or two variance. It so rocks!

I have tried the wall mount parking systems and was not happy with the way they worked. I want my car parked so the rear bumper just clears the garage door, so I thought I would try this laser indicator.
The laser projects a very visible, bright red dot that I have aligned to the edge of my dash. It doesn't get any easier then that. Pull the car into the garage until the dot is at the edge of the dash and your in. Installation is very easy - figure out where you want it on the ceiling and install 3 small screws. Keep in mind when you pick your location that you would normally plug the AC adapter into the same outlet you plug your garage door opener into. There should be plenty of cord with the adapter for most peoole I found that when I was out walking around in my garage, the built in motion detector would activate the laser, even if I was in front of my car. I didn't like the idea of having the laser on when it didn't really need to be on. So, I bought a "light socket to plug adapter" (google it) from my local Home Depot for less then $1. My garage door opener has two light bulbs built in. I removed one of the light bulbs and screwed in the plug adapter. I then plugged the ac adapter for the laser indicator into that plug. Now, the laser will only turn on when the garage door opener light is on. (When I open the garage door, the light turns on and if the door is open for a while, if I cross the electric eye at the front of the garage the light will turn on). If the light is on, this means the laser indicator is will get power and it will probably turn on also. I give this product a 4 instead of 5 stars because you can only adjust the laser in one direction - from the front of the garage to the back. It would be nice if you could adjust it from side to side, but the laser sits in a "slot", so you can't

This little gadget works well! It's easy to install, the motion detector works as advertised, and most importantly, it does help us park our cars accurately in our crowded garage. I tried other devices, but they didn't work.
I'm glad I bought these little dealios. They've made my life infinitely better, my wife is happier, and my dog likes me again.

This parking assist works as described. Its easy to install but the laser doesn't stay on long enough and even with the car in motion the light sometimes goes off before the car comes to a stop because it doesn't detect motion on the smooth, one-color surface. My wife can't see the light on the front of the hood because she line of view is lower than mine, however, I find it working fine.

It's on only for about 15 seconds. The sensitivity of the motion sensor is low.

Installation was fairly easy, setting the pointer, a little more challenging. I had to park the car right where I wanted it, then set a 10 foot ladder right next to my car and attach the laser to the ceiling. While it swivels forward and aft, it has no side-to-side flexibility, limiting easy adjustment of the laser. Other than that, it works as advertised and while some have indicated it comes on at the slightess movement in garage, I have not experienced that problem. It does sometimes does come on when someone is moving off to the side, but only stays on for about 10 seconds and then shuts off. Very good product, except as noted.

I purchased two of these and they work great. My garage is very tight all around, and I like to park my wife's van all the way up to allow room behind, and my car all the way back to the door to allow room to walk in front. With the laser pointer pointing at a speaker in the middle of my dash, I can get it right every time within 2 inches. No more worry about the door coming down on the car.
A couple of installation notes. First park the car exactly were you want it, I mean to the inch. I used the sticky tape supplied to temporarily mount the unit on the ceiling, then test out the position. Once I had the position right I mounted the bracket with the supplied screws (very small), and the rest clicked right in. Also note you need 110 outlet power. I used the spare outlets for my door opener. There are two things to watch out for during install: 1) if you position the laser directly about the car, it's very hard to adjust and mount - stepping on the car is pretty much mandatory. 2) it may be hard to find a spot to shine the laser. My car had a nice square speaker grill in center of the dash - perfect, but my wife's van has a curvy dash with no real center line or spot. We had to make up a spot between two parts of the dash that was off center. It works but was less obvious. Note the unit comes with a warning label that it uses a high power laser and not to look into it, this may be a concern near small children. The units come on when they detect motion, so a kid walking into an empty garage will turn it on. The cool thing about the laser is if you properly position it and your vehicle allows you to see the hood, as you pull in you can see if you are in line well in advance and adjust. If you can't see your hood, you wont see the pointer until last few inches. I suggest shining the laser at your dash somewhere, the instructions show it shining on a hood badge, but you would never would see that from the drivers seat. Highly recommended.

Great Parking Assistance,

It does work very well once you decide on the best ceiling mount location. I had to remount/move once to get the laser beam to hit the spot on the car dashboard that we wanted it to when the car was at its desired parking position. The forward/backward adjustment of the laser after mounting the unit is helpful but not being able to adjust the laser side to side after mounting scored it a 4 instead of 5 star rating from me.

What more could you ask for? This unit does what it states...installed easily and emits a pinpoint spot of laser thru my windshield onto my dash. I stop when the light lines up with a flat spot on my dash right next to the defrost vent. Some have written reviews knocking this unit for not having a side-to-side adjustment of the laser head, but I took that into account when mounting the unit. A slight adjustment was made, then the in-out tilting of the laser head was made to align with my defrost vent. I used the 110V outlet in my garage ceiling installed for my door opener unit. Overall, I can't complain on this purchase. I'd recommend this to anyone.
