5.0 out of 5 stars MBT shoes rock!, October 18, 2008

These shoes are AMAZING. I'm 57, 50# overweight and work at a hospital where I put in six 12 hour shifts, then have 8 days off. On hard floors I average 6-8 miles of walking a night. I have one flat foot and one with a good arch. My flat foot starts to ache about 1/2 way through the shift. So I and others in this profession have tried just about every new idea that comes down the pike. Z-coils worked well but eventually I settled in to Crocs because of their comfort & coolness- you can take them off easily and so when you sit you can slip out of them and let your feet cool off. But then several of us tried MBTs. I couldn't believe it- no pain in my feet whatsoever, even after long shifts. I found myself on my feet more and moving around. I guess some folk take a few tries at them before they get used to them but I found the day I bought them I could float around in them without any mishap. They do feel different- all your weight seems to be centered in the middle of your foot- kind of a rocker feeling which forces you to keep your balance. Not a shoe to run in but for standing & walking they seem to be the best shoe out there. Until something better comes along I'll be wearing these while I work and at home whenever I'm on my feet for a long time. I guess the only thing I don't like about them is the price- but what price are you willing to pay for comfort on the job? James in Ninilchik, Alaska

5.0 out of 5 stars Gout Sufferers - This shoe ROCKS...Literally!!!, May 22, 2009
By
Tried this shoe to help me with physical therapy on my knees and cardio-vascular conditioning. Both were extremely painful due to occasional flare-ups of gout (typical for us overweight old farts). Bending the foot at the big toe joint while walking or even riding the bicycle was excruciating.

Since the design of the sole requires a different motion of your foot which rocks through the curved sole (therefore requiring less bending of the toe joint during each step) there is less pain and you can endure more exercises.

If you sufer from the gout, you owe it to yourself to try this shoe so you can return to a fitness routine that otherwise would be too painful to sustain.

5.0 out of 5 stars These shoes are AWESOME!!!, July 6, 2010

Want to get complements on your legs this summer? Wear these puppies 3-4 times a week for a 30 minute brisk walk. The MBT Men's Chapa GTX Trail shoes sure work for me, and I'm a Woman!!! I picked the men's version because I never like the women's color options of any brand of athletic shoe... I picked the 'Pumkin' combo of the Chapa GTX -- gray, white, black with orange accents. Ok, aside from the color, the shoes work like a CHAMP!! I work out about 3-4 times a week, and I've added a 30+ walk per work out day (I walk to the gym) in these shoes and what an added bonus!! I feel my muscles working as I walk and well after. It was a little hard to get used to the feeling of the shoe for the first couple of days... kind of like you're walking on water balloons! I soon got the hang of it, and love this feeling now! Seems like the shoes make me walk with more of a light bounce in my step (even though they're rather heavy) and I definitely walk at a faster pace than normal when I wear these. I don't know if these were made to do all aspects of 'working out' as in on the stair-climber at the gym, but I use them for this too and they're great. Love them, and had been waiting till the price went down just a bit. They are very expensive, but search, search, search on the web and you will prevail...AMAZON!! I found them for about $100 below listed retail. Better start saving up for my next pair! Oh, regarding size, if you want to convert your women's size to their men's, for reference I wear a true 9.5 in women's and I ordered the 41.5-42 M EU / 8.5 D(M) US. Fit perfectly with athletic socks. MBT's rule!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Walking Shoes Out There, Period., July 10, 2010

I have owned several pair of MBTs in the past 5 years and found all of them to be exceptional walking shoes. Walking up to 18 miles on city sidewalks produces no discomfort what-so-ever to the feet in the MBTs. Even my MBT sandals are a cut above when it comes to longer walks. Caveat: Unattended MBTs have a tendency to walk away by themselves. I left a pair of almost new ones on a beach in Puerto Vallarta for a couple minutes and they were gone. Also, while absolutely the best walking shoes for paved or improved surfaces I would not recommend these shoes for serious hiking. The built in instability is counterproductive, maybe dangerous, on rocky, irregular trails.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best ever!, March 15, 2010

The MBT's are comfortable and enlivening. My legs feel stretched, exercised with simple walking. Weird looking rockers are spacey!
