This is my second pair of Masai Barefoot Tech MBT or "Swiss Masai" footwear. I had the ugly sneakers that came out before scheechers and the like started doing there version of the "Rocker" sole. Balancing all the time really does help. The ONLY complaint I have is after 3 months of 5 day a week wear I lost a 'Buckle' and I'm afraid to stick Amazon with the return only for Masai to perhaps 'decide' it's Normal wear and tear, and Stick Amazon with the bill and me w.o the sandals [Which I love] there policy is pasted below ... "quote"Warranty of MBT's? MBT USA Corp. unconditionally guarantees MBT footwear against manufacturing defects and workmanship for a period of six (6) months from the consumer's original date of purchase. This warranty does not apply to any damage resulting from normal or excessive wear and tear, nor from improper use or abuse of the product. Alterations of any nature made to MBTs shall void this warranty. Potentially defective MBTs must be returned to the retailer where they were bought, together with dated proof of purchase. The MBT retailer is then responsible for returning the potentially defective product to MBT USA Corp. for evaluation in accordance with our Warranty and Returns Policy. If after inspection we determine that the returned product is defective, we will offer product repair or replacement free of charge or we will refund the dealer their cost of the product. end quote . The buckle IS metal, but it seems to be a very thin aluminum perhaps. [I would have thought it was plastic by the weight, but it 'jingles' like metal. I'll try to attach a pic...

MBT shoes will change your life. They have changed mine. If I wasn't already gainfully employed I would seek my fame and fortuneas a company spokesperson for MBT. After two back surgeries in 5 years and now permanent "foot drop" in my right foot (not to mention the arthritic changes to big toes/joints) I had been through countless shoes to seek comfort in my gait and walk. My podiatrist suggested I check out MBT. Strengthens & tones muscles in the feet, legs, buttocks, stomach and back Increases muscle activity & circulation which may help reduce cellulite and varicose veins Relieves muscular tension, back and joint problems Leads to a relaxed upright posture and gait After the first few minutes of wearing MBT shoes I knew I had found the shoes I would wear the rest of my life. Balanced. Well made. Supportive. Oddly stylish if you adjust your sense of style. The MBT Kisumu 2 sandal was a no brainer after my first two pair of MBT's were purchased (Kimondo and Sini) so I would have the same comfort, support and joy in the summer. Super comfy and well made. Make sure you purchase MBT's from authorized dealers (available on the MBT website) as there are many knockoffs and scams involving counterfeit MBT shoes. They are more expensive when you buy the real ones but worth it. I can attest to it. I no longer need to wear a leg brace when I walk...everyone's situation is different so do consult your physician but the facts are clear...no more regular shoes for this middle aged dude. Whether you have a back problem, hip, foot, leg problem or just want to have a pair of shoes to help you walk as we were meant to do....MBT shoes are the only way to go. Great pricing on Amazon as well as Zappos and Footwearetc.com too. Buy a pair or more and thank me later.

MBT shoes make such a difference to your posture, comfort and health. I still wear nice dress shoes to meeting but I really live in MBT.. from dress shoes, running shoes and sandals. They my not be the prettiest shoes on the block but you can wear them for 12 hours straight with total comfort.. Just outstanding value.

Beware of the back strap,

This review is from: MBT Men's Kisumu 2 Sandal (Shoes)
This is my first experience with MBT shoes and I still wonder if I had the wrong choice. Since there is no other review mentioning this problem I have decided to present my input. The back strap is actually made of two pieces of leather joining at the center and stiched together in a way that creates a nasty bump on the inner surface of strap touching the back of ankle. I can only use the sandals with heavy protection gel strips on my ankle otherwise walking is impossible with all the friction and pain. Never had any such problems before with even the cheapest sandals I own. Other than that product is just fine, looks and feels like of high quality. So, beware of the back strap. I strongly recommend actual try out of this model before ordering online.

After three back surgeries, I have found out that MBT is the only shoe for me. What can I say...my back hurts much less since I started wearing these. They are not stylish...but when your in your fifties, that seems less important :)

nice sandals, but heavy and sandal strap not comfortable,

I bought these sandals after many deliberations since they are expensive. They seem to be well built but are heavy and the strap in uncomfortable - when you put them on while sitting and leaning one foot on the other the clap is hidden from view and makes strapping the sandals guesswork. That said the stride in nice and unique - you seem to glide rather then walk...

I've been wearing nothing but MBT's since I first tried them. I had surgery on my knee a few years ago and find that most regular shoes result in my slamming my heel down first when I walk, making the knee progressively more tender. With the MBT's this isn't possible. i don't think it's doing anything for the shape of my legs, as advertised, but it sure is a relief on the knees! The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that the soles wear awy fairly rapidly compared to other shoes. The first time I encountered this phenomenon I figured it was because I was wearing the same shoe, day in and day out. Then I bought another pair and alternated. The new pair wore down fairly quickly. So this time I bought 3 pairs at once. These sandals I bought for the summer and indoors during winter. I've never been a sandals guy, but I like these.

Very Comfortable - Great if you don't like pressure on the toes,

I bought these because the women's version were $125 more. They adjust in at the heel, ankle and across the toes for a custom fit, conform to and support the arch perfectly. The way the sole is shaped, there is no pressure on the toes. They are kind of heavy, but are very well made.

it might be good to help you walk the correct way and with time this will help reduce some of the pain caused by unhealthy way of walking. the thing is that the back of my leg is touching the rubber when walking so it wont be comfortable and will cause pain and friction for that area, but wearing socks will eliminate this problem as i did . i guess it is not made for long walking just casual . other than that, it is easy to wear .

This is my 2nd pair of MBT (the first being the tennis shoe) I love these sandals even more. I don't happen to be trying to lose weight, but I always try better to stay fit and they do as advertised to work trunk through toes. I bought a half size larger as they run small, and with the sandals, I like my toes back from the edge & the straps (Combo of Velcro and the quick release clips) Make for an easy perfect fit for nearly any width. These run High in price, but I haven't seen any other brands {Skeecher & Rebok have "Rocker soles"} do the sandals yet. In the spring & summer I wear them every day, and use my Tennis shoes for 'Power' walking. If price is prohibitive , wait a bit. The Masai Barefoot tech [MBT] was first, but apparently not exclusively copy written as I've seen the idea creeping into other manufacturers.
