5.0 out of 5 stars I love these shoes!, April 9, 2007
I have written a review on the lower-soled shoes, but just received these shoes today. I know it's early, but I like these so much and I was online, so I thought I'd review them right now. They are extremely well-made. I've read that some people have been unhappy with their shoes. My other pair has lasted 2 years so far, and they are still going strong. I bought these, though, because I liked the idea that they are higher and will help work out your legs more.

To be honest, I don't know if these really do a great job working out one's legs. I used to think so, but I work out a lot and stretch my calves a lot and work out my legs, so I'm not really sure if I'm getting a huge benefit from these shoes or not. But, I do like that my posture is straight, and I like that, when I do walk, these feel as if I might be getting some benefit. I am not a big walker, though. And, I don't normally wear sneaker-type shoes during the day. But, if we go to the park or hiking (on paths, not real hiking), I try to wear these shoes (or my older pair) as much as possible.

MBT salespeople recommend that one tries out the lower soled shoes first and then, as a second pair, get these. I'm not sure I agree unless one has some medical issues. If you're just buying them because you think they may have some fitness benefit, then, by all means, pick the ones you like.

When I bought my first pair, I was told they were just for walking. I have since learned that they are fine for training, too, just not for competing. That said, I try and workout in these, too. If you do a lot of standing exercises or leg exercises, sometimes that is a little difficult, since your balance is not as stable as in regular shoes. It is a little like working out on mini swiss balls, though. . . your core will get a better workout, as well.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor execution, terrible coustumer service, September 11, 2007
I have a pair of Swiss Masai Sport High shoes that i purchased in 2006. The "Masai Sensor", the elliptical section underneath the heel has come unglued torn after 6 months of very light use. I didn't use these shoes as recreational/sport equipment and feel this may be a defect.

After many unsuccessful tries to contact Masai USA through their e-mail system, I end-up calling the original seller. They told me that the warranty expired after 6 months and there is nothing they can do, but they gave me Masai USA Corp. number. There, i was cut short by representative. It's been over 6 months, end of story. Needless to say i'm left with bitter taste in my mouth.

I love the idea but the poor execution in my case and terrible costumer policy set me back over $260.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every single penny, December 9, 2007
Three herniated discs, double plantar fascitis, heel spurs and joint arthritis....these conditions have kept me in pain just about 24/7 for a few years now...until I discovered these phenomenal shoes. MBT's are the ONLY shoes I can wear without experiencing daily pain. At first I was shocked by the price tag, unable to figure out what could possibly make a shoe worth so much money when they looked like Herman Munster boots. You know what? I couldn't care less if they aren't featured in the pages of VOGUE; they are COMFORTABLE!!! Of course you won't be sporting these at any gala evening events any time soon, but I wear them every day for no less than 12 hours, I walk a lot, tote around two kids, the family pet, and groceries, etc., and I still come home feeling like I could walk a few more miles. In fact, it's when I take them OFF that my feet hurt all over again. Originally when these shoes hit the U.S. market they were featured on national news broadcasts as being the shoe that will help you "lose weight" and give your legs a work out. I didn't find that this was the case for me, just that it takes a bit of getting used to the motion your body takes once wearing the shoes. I didn't feel any discomfort at all, as some people say they experience, and there really wasn't much of a break-in period before I walked perfectly naturally in them. I showed my MBT's to my podiatrist who had never heard of them, and once he read about how they are constructed, their history, and checked out the rocker bottom design, he said he'd mention them to more patients who are experiencing the same afflictions. I just invested in my second pair and hope they expand the line to include slippers. The summer sandal looks okay, and the ankle high boot is pretty rugged, so you can bet I'll be well covered throughout the year in MBT's! Thanks a million, Amazon, for offering a truly great product that does what no other shoe has done for me before.
