4.0 out of 5 stars I love these!
I bought these about six months ago and LOVE THEM LOVE THEM LOVE THEM. I wish all of my shoes would have the same benefit as these do. 2.0 out of 5 stars Didn't notice a difference worth $259
I have waited 3 months to write this review, wanted to make sure I was actually using these and could be honest. They do tend to make you stand a little straighter, but for the money I don't feel like they're worth it. Sorry, MBT.... :( I have had disk surgery and was really hoping these would be good for my back, but I don't honestly notice a difference wearing them.

4.0 out of 5 stars I love these!, February 2, 2006
I bought these about six months ago and LOVE THEM LOVE THEM LOVE THEM. I wish all of my shoes would have the same benefit as these do. They are so so comfortable and durable and I can feel how straight my posture is when I wear them. The only negative thing I have to say about these is that these are walkers, not trainers. So, I can't really benefit from them when working out. And, I do not do a LOT of walking for exercise and I don't always want to wear walking shoes out and about. . . I'm kind of a regular shoe person. But, I do wear these as much as I can.

However, when trying to find out if there were new trainer MBTs on the market, I came across Earth Shoes (no, not the WalMart "earth shoes") and recently bought a pair of Earth Shoe Trainers. They also have the negative heel technology (although you MUST order at LEAST a half size larger than you usually wear). I get the same benefit in these when I train! I love these, too. And, they cost a lot less than the MBTs.

5.0 out of 5 stars MBT are well worth the $, August 3, 2005
I love thess shoes and did 6 months of research until buying some. Now I can't take them off and don't really want to wear anything else!! They instantly pull your tunmmy in making you use your core muscles, upper legs and behind to stride not your smaller muscles. After just 5 hrs with them on I noticed a big diffrence! I will be buying more I think for the price they are worth it, I'd probably spend less more going to Dr visits from migrains, and back aches. I'd give then 10 stars if I could!

5.0 out of 5 stars MBT walkers, August 25, 2005
My thighs are sore but not as if I just ran 3 miles. It's a good kind of sore; the kind you can tolerate after a long walk. I've only been wearing my MBTs for 2 weeks now so I haven't noticed any changes yet. I live in a hilly area and I bike 15 miles to and from work everyday so I admit that at first I was skeptical that these shoes would do anything for me. They are proving me wrong. My friends have all commented on how my posture has improved and how my walk seems to be straighter(I usually walk with my feet turned out just a bit) My knees don't hurt as much and my normal shoes just feel aggrivating now. I love my MBTs. I wear them everyday but I think I'll wait a few weeks to see if I'll invest in another pair. I do like the sandals, though. I think I may have to buy a pair.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works for me..., January 31, 2006
By
I am a recovering fibromite, and this shoe has helped me get back to walking, strengthening my core muscles, and even trotting (which is what MBT calls 'jogging' in their shoes). I have had a grey pair of the sport shoe since Sept. 04, and they have helped build back the muscles and endurance I'd lost during a 7+ year flare.

I don't know about the cellulite, as I don't have that problem. But for strengthening, toning, and defining your legs and abs-- these shoes are great! Oh, and although they aren't the most stylish, wearing them 24/7 is great-- these are shoes I can stand in!

This spring I'm graduating to the high sport (aka athletic) shoe!

The shoes have a star docked because the soles (currently) are not waterproof. I hate leaving my MBTs at home!

5.0 out of 5 stars pain free, June 24, 2006
For the first time in probably close to 5yrs, I woke up with no back or knee pain. That isn't to say i wasn't sore though. My calves, thighs, butt and those dredded lovehandles were sore. It felt like I went running or did an hour of cardio....omg I would never have believed shoes could do all that. My physical therapist recommended these shoes 2yrs ago, and I told her I would never pay $250 for shoes. There is a shoe store near where I work and I kept seeing people going in barely able to walk and coming out with the best posture. I got curious...so I went to investigate. From the moment I put these shoes on and stood up my knee pain vanished and the constant throbbing back pain was greatly lessened... I walked around for 30 minutes...the sales clerk even let me walk outside for about 10 minutes. The strangest thing was, the longer I walked the less my back hurt. I haven't been able to sit or stand for more than about 15-20 min since a 2001 accident...until now. I wish I would have bought them 2 yrs ago...it would have saved me alot of agony and alot of money. I could kick myself for all the time and money I have spent on injections, pain meds and doctor visits that only allowed me to live with the pain. I only wish I would have listened to the physical therapist to begin with. oh well...live and learn and wear mbt's :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Got rid of hip pain, August 12, 2006
These sneakers are wonderful. I had tremendous hip pain that nothing helped--I couldn't even sleep from the pain, sometimes. Now I use these sneakers a few times a week on the treadmill and I don't have any more hip pain. They are worth the money and really tone your legs. After almost two years, I can say it was a really good purchase for me. I have very little back pain and almost no hip pain. The only drawback is that your feet get very hot in them so its hard to wear them all day but I understand the newer ones are better ventilated.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shoes made me lose 15 lbs and got me to regularly exercise., April 25, 2006
By
I have lost 15 lbs in the last year without making any changes in my diet simply because after I started wearing these shoes my knee pain and back pain have become history. The good part about wearing these shoes is you start standing upright and using the core muscles. Abdominals work hard and knees remain aligned. You begin to enjoy walking around. The bad part is I hate wearing any other shoes and resist going to parties or formal events unless my husband agrees to me wearing these.

5.0 out of 5 stars Improves your drooping posture!, December 23, 2005
Getting older and droopping over a bit. I think of my neighbor as the shrinking lady who's been loosing an inch a year due to arthritis in the spine perhaps. But I've noticed my own posture slipping. I hate that. These shoes almost instantly seem to correct it. I'm standing upright and it feels a lot better now with my MBTs. Being tall challenged maybe I get a boost from the extra height of the soles too. Works for me. I've got a circulation condition and lower back pain that started this year. Haven't had them long enough to see what if any circulation changes they do. Literature suggests it helps some conditions. Beware if you've had deep vein thrombosis...DVT or blood clots in your legs. Consult your doctor it recommends before buying a pair. I'll come back after I see or don't see more results.
I had to buy my pair from another source because Amazon's merchant does not carry a broad size group. Why bother to sell shoes if you don't stock them comes to mind. So I give Amazon a single star on this issue. I give the shoes 5 stars but hope when they get more popular the price comes down.

Added this now 3 years later and 5 pair owner of MBT's. Good grief no I did not pay retail on all but one pair. My #1 Complaint across the board is MBT has got to get the size thing worked out. This shoe here runs small at a 37 more a 6-6.5 than the 7 they say. And so I went with the 37 & 2/3's odd as it sounds next size up for the hikers. A wee bit big but nothing fluffy thick socks take care of. So onto my next 2 pairs of suede in blue and sand respectively. I got the 37.66 size for extra room and oh my gosh they are smaller than the original 37 with these shoes? No room for socks....not kidding. Not returnable. Then there is the wonderful pair of fisherman sandals I did pay full retail for and I can probably put both feet in one shoe they are so big and they do not support my outside arches or foot like they need to. Had to quit even trying to double the socks up and wearing them about the house as a 40 year old broken foot pain returned. They will be up for sale soon on ebay....sniffles. I no longer intend to buy the other sandal you see out...I'm afraid of the size and the spongy soles. Otherwise I still give this Walker a 5 star rating! But I expect and hope this business takes some time and energy into uniform sizing so we know what size fits. Oh the Hiker model is decent in the woods and on loose and rocky emankments or uneven trails better than the shoes are. Hope this update helps....I live in remote area so can't go to a store to try on. Now get a pair of these rockers and they'll have you walking and energized. Did nothing for the circulation problem but the posture thing is a definite energizer and makes them worth the $$$$.

5.0 out of 5 stars great.............., May 29, 2006
By
Im a nurse and like most nurses i have lifted and pulled one to many patients and have done some muscle damage to lumbar area. I used to wear Dansko but I love these shoes, I bought them just for walking now i wear them to work. Once you get over the goofy look you will love them..I walk 3 miles everyday in them and the back of my legs burn, I now even wear them to the gym. My friends at work made fun of me but a few are going to try them on and Im sure they will buy them also. You have to wear them for them to work and you have to walk correctly in them, at first your calves and hamstrings might ache but you wil get used to it...worth the money so far...My back pain has decreased and my posture is better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great shoes and worth the price..., January 25, 2007
I bought these about three years ago and although I haven't been able to wear them continuously (foot problems) they are wonderful and have held up really well.

Prior to buying them I never imagined I would spend so much on a sneaker, but I think of it as a workout investment, such as a gym, fitness class or personal trainer would be. Its so much easier to justify! :) With that frame of mind, its defintiely worth the price because you will reap the benefits of a total body workout, it will improve your posture and hopefully help with leg, knee and back pain.

If you are trying them for the first time you MUST make sure you're using them correctly- there is a certain way in which you have to walk and center yourself while walking so as to get the benefit of the shoes and not to hurt yourself. The shoes come with a video and an instruction pamphlet and I highly recommend at least reading the pamphlet before wearing them.

I also highly recommend wearing them only for an hour or so for the first day, two hours the second day, three hours the third day, etc., or you could end up in a lot of pain. The shoes enable your body to work muscles you may not have even realized you have- your legs, knees and back are all getting a workout when you're wearing them. Therefore, if you don't start off slowly, I guarantee you'll be sore and you can possibly hurt yourself.

If you tend to be clumsy or have trouble balancing, this shoe is definitely not for you. However, if you're looking for an addition to your workouts and help with your posture, you should hopefully really enjoy them.
