MC Groovz Dance Craze Isn't Good...,
A Kid's Review
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars

Well... The popularity of dancing games came with DDR, and lately, there have been a lot of people trying to copy this idea. MC Groovz Dance Craze is one of them.
It will never live up to the high expectations of DDR. It just plain out stinks. There are many reasons this game stinks. There is not a big enough of a selection of songs that interested everybody. The songs in here are made by famous artist, but they are not very good dancing music to well... dance to. If you are a DDR addict, like me, you will hate the note accuracy of this game. DDR has great accuracy with the steps, while this game does not. The makers almost expect you to hit the note 1 second after it has passed the marker. You will get really annoyed with the note accuracy. There isn't much to look at if you are watching your friend play. All there is in the backround during a song is a girl dancing. In fact, her dancing stinks. She moves like a robot, and I bet this wasn't the purpose intended. Stuff that you need to look at, like the accuracy of the note (Example in DDR: PERFECT! GOOD! ALMOST!) doesn't stand out. It is almost invisible with the backround. This is really annoying because you are trying to look at the notes at the same time, while in DDR, you can use your pereferal vision, see the color of the word representing the note accuracy, and know what the accuracy was. Also, there is nothing to go for on this game. Everything is there. Nothing to unlock, buy, or anything like that. You will get bored with this game in a week because there is nothing to strive for. Overall, this game is great for a workout, but if you are determined on being the best at dancing games, don't waste your money on this. I can almost garuntee you, you will regret it if you do.

Okay, so this review is for the MC Groovz dance game for GameCube. So first of all, we bought this at Gamestop used for 3 bucks. I was excited and surprised since it was Mad Catz, and most of the time, we turn to Mad Catz for video game accessories. I didn't even know Mad Catz made games! So we picked up this game. Since we have DDR pads,I was thinking this might be compatible with them. So I pop the game into my Wii, then it starts. Then all of a sudden I realized that it was bad. First of all, the game kept muting itself. I don't know if it was our controller or the game, but I don't know. Next, the selection of songs sucks. We have DDR Hottest Party 3 and that has a BETTER songlist! Finally, the gameplay is horrible and graphics are not so good. I was stepping on the arrows that went by, and they just passed by and disappeared. I didn't even know if I was getting them right. Anyway, this is a horrible game and it's probably why it was 3 bucks. I think Mad Catz just put this together quickly so they would have something to promote their dance pad. They should just stick to accessories.

This is the first DDR game, it was for the GameCube. But it is getting harder and harder to find, because it is a little known fact that this game also works with Nintendo Wii. The pads for Wii work just the same as with other DDR games.
There are very few copies of this game left, so it seems as though it is getting more difficult to find. This is a rare game, and definitely will be a collectors item. There are a few online, but not many at gamestop or other large vendors. As far as the game itself, I really like the songs. On the pad, the game challenges you to use 8 places to put your foot on the pad, not just 4. Also, there are no hand gimmic things. THe game just simply works. It also has a workout mode, which is great. The colors are very easy on the eyes and relaxing. Unlike other DDR games, that are so over-stimulating, it would make you crazy to use that for a workout. |
