I can't say that I did not learn somethings about the Office programs. But if you think this book will ace you the exam, forget it. The book prepares you with multiple choice questions for each section and the practice exams give you more of the same. But the actual exam is practical. You have to perform as series of tasks, so you had better know how to do it. Microsoft's...

This book, along with the CD helped me verify what I thought I knew and helped me learn a few tips and tricks. My favorite part is the CD, with multiple, multiple question tests, I was able to quickly identify shortcomings and address them using the book. I will be taking the PowerPoint 2007 Exam right after Christmas with Word to follow. Excellent choice, better than the Microsoft version which I also purchased.

Microsoft's website has some videos on the subject and at the end of each video they give you the option of doing something to re-enforce what you learned. This is a better method. While the book does have some practice exercises it is not enough in my opinion. It is however one of the cheaper books available and perhaps a good start.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good tool, May 24, 2010

This book is a good tool. But no one tool can do every job. I have read some of the other reviews that point out that "The MS tests are practical and this book teaches question based." That statement is correct.

However, this book will tell you how to do the practical things. And if you read it along with your computer, you can try them as you read them. While the book doesn't explicetly point this out, I find it common sense that when the book is walking me step by step through a process I have never done before, to work along with it.

This book is one good tool for your tool box. And just like any good mechanic, you should never only have 1 tool in your box.

As for me, I easily passed my first of the MOS 2007 exams(formerly named MCAS), and plan to go back for another in about 6-8 months when I am finished with MCSA, Security+, and MSDST.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good start, March 22, 2011
This review is from: MCAS Office 2007 Exam Prep: Exams for Microsoft Office 2007 (Paperback)
I purchased this book to help me pass the MOS (aka MCAS) exam for Excel (77-602). Eventually I may use it to help me with PowerPoint and Word as well.

The book was a good start. I read the entire Excel chapter from start to finish. I read it on my Kindle while I used Excel 2007 on my computer to reproduce the exercises. The book was a useful tool that refreshed my memory in some areas and pointed out some weak spots. However, this book would not have been enough for me to be sure that I could pass the test. I purchased some testing software online and spent a day and a half testing myself until I felt confident enough to pass. I made a perfect score on the test. If your goal is to pass these tests on the first try, then having this book is a nice extra, but not enough. Get yourself a self test.

This book covers the majority of the items covered on the exam. This is a great book to include on your list of books to review for the test. I do like that it covered all the office products. I will use it in the future for a book of reference.

I but this book because of Microsoft Access. I doubt if anyone can pass the MCAS exam relying on only this book.It is just too scanty. You need to have mastered access using other access books before you can find this book useful at all. Worse is the fact that it does not have any hands on excercises but for the multiple choise questions which I do not believe are very helpful.

The information was very helpful while studying for the Excel exam. I would recommend it to anyone looking for review questions and practice exam.
