5.0 out of 5 stars might be better than Purhaps, I suppose....
I heard about rufio last year from one of my band mates, he told me to download "still" from the album "purhaps, I suppose...", i thought the bass player was amazing and the drummer was also very good, and thats coming from another punk rock drummer..., my top 3 bands are Rufio, Taking Back Sunday(great romances... is a great song, as are all of theirs.), and Senses...

1.0 out of 5 stars I think I've heard this album before...
It is indeed strange that on the day of this release, an album entitled "Deja Entendu" was released. Unlike that album (released by the band Brand New), which really was a complete recreation of the band, we do have something released that everyone has heard before. "1985" is almost an exact recreation of "Perhaps...I suppose", and it really...

I heard about rufio last year from one of my band mates, he told me to download "still" from the album "purhaps, I suppose...", i thought the bass player was amazing and the drummer was also very good, and thats coming from another punk rock drummer..., my top 3 bands are Rufio, Taking Back Sunday(great romances... is a great song, as are all of theirs.), and Senses fail(great emo band that does not get much airplay or as much respect as it should), well all in all this cd actually has much catchier songs like "White lights", which is my personal favorite, "science Fiction", "Decency", and "Pirate". and also has a great mellower / acoustic start to "Over it" --- "1985" is one of my favorite cds right now and i have over 300 cds that i have boughten and even more that i have downloaded.... i know my music and Rufio is one of the best bands out there... cant wait to see them on the warped tour this year -- they have so much energy -- well heres the song list
1.Countdown - 5/5 -- great beggining track and also gets you in the mood for the rest of the album
2.White Lights -- 5/5 -- the best song on the whole album-- great drum beat in the begginning and then the awesome guitar part comes in , nothing short of amazing...
3.Science Fiction -- 5/5 -- the first song i heard off of "1985", it was on the warped tour 2003 cd, and i immedietely thought it was a classic -- the beggining guitar part lets the energy that rufio produces flow through your speakers...
4.Why Wait -- 41/2 / 5 -- also a very good song with great lyrics...
5.We Exist -- 41/2 / 5 -- yet another amazing song by the all time great Rufio, Rufio, Ru... Fi... Ooohhhh
6.Follow Me -- 5/5 -- starts off slower but then gets great -- the background guitar playing is perfect..
7.Control -- 5/5 -- very good song... plain and simply put.
8.Set it off -- 5/5 -- a little different type of beginning, but still pure rufio music. and the bridge in this song is great.
9.Decency -- 5/5 -- the chorus is awesome instead of how a normal chorus usually is , very loud, this chorus has just the bass and drums with the singer -- it sounds awesome..
10.Pirate -- 5/5 -- one of my favorites, everything sounds perfect and is perfected so greatly..
11.Goodbye -- 41/2 / 5 -- My least favorite -- its only like 1 min 50 sec.. but it still kicks ..
12.Over It -- 5/5 -- great ending song -- starts acoustic and then gets a little louder , i thought "perhaps i suppose was one of my favorite cds, but this cd actually beats it,
If you like this band you should check out coheed and cambria, tacking back sunday, finch, yellowcard, thursday, the starting line, and Senses fail.

5.0 out of 5 stars Do Rufio ever stop improving?... Perhaps, I suppose., July 19, 2003

Once again Rufio maintain their high standard of unique pop-punk following their previous release 'Perhaps, I Suppose'. You can never get bored of Rufio. On this CD, '1985', they have created catchy guitar rifts that will stay in your head, such as 'White Lights' and 'Pirate'. Although I feel they dont live up to the standars of 'Above Me' - the opening track on their previous album.
What makes me prefer Rufio to most pop-punk bands is that Scott Sellers provides unique melodic vocals on top of some of the greatest guitar rifts i've heard. Now i'm not too good on the subject of guitars, but they sure are pretty amazing! Also, he doesnt sing in a girlie voice like most pop-punk bands.
If your into 'The All-American Rejects', 'Yellowcard' or 'Millencolin' go out and buy this CD. Perhaps not as good as their previous album, but still worth keeping playing in your CD player for a month or two. Rufio are set to become big, and i'm lucky enough to be going to see them in Brighton in September. More things to come from this young bunch of humourous and talented guys.

4.0 out of 5 stars A little soft but a good album, September 1, 2004
This review is from: MCMLXXXV (Audio CD)
Rufio is one of those bandshardly anyone knows about. No one talks about them, wears shirts, or mentions any of their cds. I picked up 1985 just last week and i was a little surprised but disipointed. Rufio is pop punk, not exactly straight punk. Some songs are a little sowand are just rock close to punk. About 1/2 or less is straight punk like most bands. So if you don't lke softer punk don't get this cd. Even though it is softer sometimes and there is no yelling I still enjoy the album. Not my favorite but still good. Their style of music is signature. They have their own sound like no other band. Scott Sellers(lead singer) reminds me of Jordan from New Found Glory, which means the singer voices is kind of high for this kind of music and it sounds odd but still good music. If you like Yellowcard or NFG then pick up 1985. Songs:
Countdown- 9/10
White Lights- 9/10
Science Fiction- 8.5
Why Wait?- 7/10
We Exist- 6.5/10
Follow Me- 7.5/10
Control- 8.5/10
Set it Off- 7/10
Decency- 7.2/10
Pirate- 7.3/10
Goodbye- 8/10
Over it- 8/10

It is indeed strange that on the day of this release, an album entitled "Deja Entendu" was released. Unlike that album (released by the band Brand New), which really was a complete recreation of the band, we do have something released that everyone has heard before. "1985" is almost an exact recreation of "Perhaps...I suppose", and it really was rather bland and terrible the first time around. The guys are pretty skillful musicians, but the rhythm/lyrics/delivery is almost exactly the same on every song. Unless you are 14 and enjoy song after immature song about girls/heart ache, then I highly recommend passing this one up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rufio improvement, September 26, 2004
This review is from: MCMLXXXV (Audio CD)
Rufio has made a drastic improvement over the past two years since their first album, "Perhaps, I Suppose" while also maintaining the kind of punk-type music they play. Their songs have become more intricate and have still maintained the easy listening level for multiple generations to listen to. The variation of guitar and lyrics is astounding as they make every other song sound different than the one before. If you had 14 dollars to buy just one CD, you should seriously think about investing in this rufio CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars I'd have to say you need this one, June 8, 2004
This review is from: MCMLXXXV (Audio CD)
I dont usually write reviews as a biased fan, but for rufio i have to make an exception. I fell in love with rufio after hearing perhaps i suppose. It would have to be one of my favourite all time albums. 1985 is more mainstream than Perhaps...and has slightly less natural energy. Scott's singing on Perhaps...sometimes was hard to understand because it seemed kind of in the background. This problem has been fixed on 1985, only to create a new one. Scott's voice is a little irritating which can put off some listeners. Also sometimes i think the drumming is too fast. Anyhoo, the gtarist is sooooo good and the songs here are unbelieveably creative (particularly for pop-punk). 5 and 6 are the best songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Whats with the roman numerals, May 23, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: MCMLXXXV (Audio CD)
This CD rocks. This is the same general formula as GC, Simple Plan, and all of those bands. The difference here is that the formula is done extremely well. And I mean EXTREMELY well. It almost pains me to use Simple Plan in the same sentence as Rufio. They have some incredibly memorable riffs. See Pirate, Science Fiction, and White Lights. Rufio can master an insanely fast track such as We Exist and then shift to a slow song like Over It. Scott's voice is also infinitely better to an other singer from a comparable band. The drummer drums fast too. The best songs are um... all of them. Buy this CD now. Also buy CDs from Brand New, Thursday, Yellowcard, and Coheed and Cambria.

5.0 out of 5 stars i thought it couldn't get better, March 1, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: MCMLXXXV (Audio CD)
Rufio has proven to be one of the catchiest bands out there. I loved their last release, and couldnt stop playing "face the truth". Now this cd comes out and I can't beleive how many hits it contains. "White lights", and my favorite track, "follow me" have been playing non-stop. The singer's voice is so unique and the guitar is very fast and catchy. I give this album 5 stars.. Everyone should have it

4.0 out of 5 stars Missing that "something" they had in Perhaps, I Suppose, February 27, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: MCMLXXXV (Audio CD)
Personally I think "Perhaps, I Suppose" was better. However that DOES NOT mean this is a bad CD. Some people thought this one was better. Personally I found this CD nice to listen to. Even though 1985 is a good CD, a must buy for Rufio fans, it seems to be lacking in that "something" they had in "Perhaps, I SUppose" But that's just my opinion. Go buy it. Maybe you'll like it better than the first.

4.0 out of 5 stars good stuff, November 13, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: MCMLXXXV (Audio CD)
this album has some of the best guitar riffs i have ever heard and powerful lead singing. they are definitley one of the most talented bands out there. the only problem was that every song sounded similar. if they mixed up the speed and style a bit, they would be amazing. the standout track on this cd i would say is "countdown." it is a great and powerful opening track(cool drums too). though not as good an opener as above me, "countdown" is a strong showing of what the album is all about. although i cant compare 1985 to their other album because i havent heard all of perhaps, i suppose, i would defintley recommend it. this bands got the stuff and deserve to be big
