Excellent as usual... way to go Coriolis,

This review is from: MCSE IIS 4 Exam Cram 3E (Exam: 70-087) (Paperback)
I took the IIS4 class at a CTEC several months ago, I didn't get a chance to take the test and the info was kind of rusty. After reading IIS4 Exam Cram 3rd Edition, I found it to be extremely informative giving me the brush up needed to get a 910 on the exam today! Thanks Coriolis!

Worst of the 6 Exam Crams I've used so far...,
By Tabe (Spokane, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: MCSE IIS 4 Exam Cram (Paperback)
I recently completed my MCSE by passing IIS 4.0. Like the previous 5 exams I had taken, I passed it on the first try, after using a CBT computer-based course, Transcender practice exams, and the Exam Cram book for the test. Unlike the previous 5 however, the Exam Cram book for IIS 4.0 failed to deliver. The other Exam Crams I've used (the four core books + TCP/IP) all contained a wealth of information that made me feel fully prepared walking into the exam room. The IIS book is very shallow, glossing over or skipping important topics and providing very little in the way of "meat". The practice questions in the book are simplistic, with no bearing on the real test. Answers given often have incorrect explanations or incorrect answers. Bottom line: A disappointment from this excellent series. At least I passed.

Exam Cram IIS 4,
By A Customer
This review is from: MCSE IIS 4 Exam Cram (Paperback)
This seems like a good book, but when you take the test the book is nothing like the questions asked on the test. It does not cover ODBC error messages like Microsoft. Only way that I found this out was by going out on the internet and reviewed exam on the Web. This book help me in some area but left a lot to be desired when getting ready for the exam.

A piece of junk!!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: MCSE IIS 4 Exam Cram (Paperback)
Please don't waste your money on this book. Information ismisleading and just plain incorrect in much of the book. Many of thequestions are far too easy and do not reflect questions seen on the test at all. I would recommend the MCSE IIS 4.0 for dummies over this. Only $5 more and comes with very could test simulator software. This Exam Cram is a real "bad apple" in the fine exam cram series.

IIS Exam Preparedness,
By George H. Smith (usa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: MCSE IIS 4 Exam Cram (Paperback)
The book gives a very basic and too-quick review of the product. It is an acceptable starting point but does NOT give sufficient preparation for taking the IIS 4.0 Microsoft exam. It is too shallow and contains too many outright errors to be viewed as a 'bible' prior to scheduling an exam.If used in concert with an acutal class, it may be sufficient, but as itself in a standalone effort (even coupled with actual practice events) it does not provide sufficient detail to pass the exam. In addition it contains too much 'cut and paste' form to be of even medium depth technical detail.

Not as comprehensive or accurate as other exam-cram books.,

Both this exam cram and the exam-prep for IIS 4.0 are poorly proofread and lacking in content. There are better resources out there. Don't waste your money.

Reviews About April 1998 or July 1999 Edition????,
By A Customer
This review is from: MCSE IIS 4 Exam Cram Adaptive Testing Edition: Exam: 70-087 (Paperback)
Hmmm...a slight mixup is perceived...are these reviews about the earlier April 1998 edition or the latest July 1999 Edition?

Provides information in a precise and concise way,

From Aubs. The book does state that this is designed to get you through the exam but should not be your sole source of information. In general I would agree with this, if you have previously done IIS 3.0 or are an experienced NT administrator the book can get you through. However if you are a paper MCP then you will probably need more information. I am an MSCE and loaded IIS 4.0 and went through practical examples while going through the book. I had a conventional exam 55 questions and passed. I would say the book prepares you pretty well, the omission of the ODBC errors is a shame and there are some minor errors but on the whole it's well wrtten for what it claims to provide.

I liked this book because it has a lot of multiple choice questions and after each one, the authors explain the answer. Great information that will help you with the test, but don't depend only on it to pass it.

A bit of a disappointment,
By miked@mcsetutor.com (Minneapolis, Minnesota) - See all my reviews
This review is from: MCSE IIS 4 Exam Cram (Paperback)
All the other Exam Cram books that we have reviewed have been excellent. However, this one wasn't quite as good. It didn't correlate all that well with what was on the exam. A significant omission is the lack of information about ODBC errors (as mentioned by a previous reviewer). The Sybex Exam Notes tops the Exam Cram for the IIS 4 exam. We have a detailed review of it and other IIS books at MCSETutor.com.
