4.0 out of 5 stars Save Some Time for Yourself, Too.
When I scheduled the tests for MCSE. I didn't give enough time for this test, and I had no other choice but using exam cram books which I highly trust. They tend to cover most with a few mistakes. I finished this book within 2 days and passed the test. I read other reviews that this book is to read after TCP/IP and IIS4, but that's not really true. I only had basic...

3.0 out of 5 stars If you haven't passed IIS 4.0, dont even try
I can understand why people are split on this book. If you have done IIS 4.0 (internet service provider) you will have no trouble with this. Ifyou have not, it will be a difficult exam. I also suggest you buy the "Exam Prep" for proxy. If you don't understand IIS, TCP/IP, IEAK 4.0, Site Server you will not understand this book. If you do, it is good exam...

I finished this book within 2 days and passed the test. I read other reviews that this book is to read after TCP/IP and IIS4, but that's not really true. I only had basic knowledge of TCP/IP and IIS, and MS Proxy test doesn't require you to know corelated subject in depth. The book covered enough basics for me to pass the test. Save some time for yourself, too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book if used after IIS4 and TCP/IP tests, September 19, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: MCSE Proxy Server 2 Exam Cram (Exam: 70-088) (Paperback)
I had taken the IIS4 and TCP/IP tests prior to Proxy, which relies on these two areas. I used this Exam Cram and the Proxy Transcender to pass the exam. No surpises on the test with this preparation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book., December 27, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: MCSE Proxy Server 2 Exam Cram (Exam: 70-088) (Paperback)
This is the best Exam Cram books I have ever read. It contains all the information you need to pass the test, and it contains very few errors. I read this book over the course of a week, combined with some hands on at work, and passed the Proxy test with a very high score.

This review is from: MCSE Proxy Server 2 Exam Cram (Exam: 70-088) (Paperback)
I think its funny that I can read this book and do a few transcender tests and not have actually ever seen or used Proxy server2.0 and pass the MCSE exam for this with a score of over 920.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Summary of the Material - Not Practical for Exam, October 7, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: MCSE Proxy Server 2 Exam Cram (Exam: 70-088) (Paperback)
It's a Good Book to review the material and organize your thoughts. As for the actual test, it was more demanding. The questions in this book are Very Basic and Do Not offer a good practice for Real Test.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent final-review study book for Proxy Server 2 Exam, July 16, 1998

This review is from: MCSE Proxy Server 2 Exam Cram (Exam: 70-088) (Paperback)
This book is not designed to be your only study material for passing the Proxy Server 2.0 exam. It is, however, an outstanding "final review" study aid. I used the Microsoft course material, worked with the product, read this book and worked through the Transcender exams. I scored a whopping 941 out of 1000. I credit this book with a good portion of that score. If you want to pass the Proxy Server 2.0 exam, BUY THIS BOOK!

4.0 out of 5 stars The book is very informational; the test is VERY difficult., July 10, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: MCSE Proxy Server 2 Exam Cram (Exam: 70-088) (Paperback)
I have passed 5 of the 6 required tests for my MCSE, all of them on the first try, by only reading the Exam Cram series.

I have passed all 4 cores, and I passed this test, Proxy Server 2, today. Out of all of the tests, this one was the most difficult.

I read the Exam Cram book, and the entire online documentation for Proxy Server 2. I found only 1 noticable conflict between the two, whether or not IPX/SPX is supported by the Web Service. I believe it is, but the only way to know for sure is to test it. The Microsoft documentation mentioned that IPX/SPX is not supported (there's no gateway) through SOCKS, but it is through WinSocks; no mention of Web Service. The Exam Cram specifically says that IPX/SPX is only supported through WinSocks, and an 'exam cram' I found online, specifically states that IPX/SPX is supported by Web Services and WinSocks Services.

In conclussion, Proxy Server 2.0 by Exam Cram was the most clear documentation I have read on Proxy Server 2.0.END
