5.0 out of 5 stars Passed Exam First Time with Book Only
This book allowed me to pass the exam the first time through. I have two years practical experience and this book pulled together the rest of the information I needed. Great book and well written.

3.0 out of 5 stars not a star in the cram series
I just got back from my certification exam, so I feel that I can provide a true review for this book. First I'd like to say that I've been working with NT for a couple of years now and I'm not lacking hands on experience. Since I felt that I know NT pretty well already I've been relaying mostly on the exam cram books for my studies. This is the 5th exam I've taken so...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Review/Study Supplement for NT 4.0 Enterprise!, September 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: MCSE NT Server 4 in the Enterprise Exam Cram Adaptive Testing Edition: Exam: 70-068 (Paperback)
Would highly recommend this book for your studies! For a small number of pages, there is a wealth of information condensed into a very readable format. It briefly touches upon the technology and then reinforces it with strong study questions. (Note: Questions are very similar to the Transcender exam) This book should be a supplement to your studies, not the main source of information.

I'm not sure where our one disgruntled reviewer is coming from but the certification process will always be flawed. Speaking as a Network professional with 5 years experience and two CNE certifications, certification will never take the place of real-life experience. However, it may be a measure of theoretical knowledge and initiative of the network professional who achieves them. I see certification as a supplement to my career, not what defines it. And yes, we are living in a capitalistic society, welcome to the United States!

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent review with a few glitches, August 3, 1999
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: MCSE NT Server 4 in the Enterprise Exam Cram Adaptive Testing Edition: Exam: 70-068 (Paperback)
This book was a great review of material I had covered in several MCSE study guides. Particularly nice was the focus on what the test will actully cover, how to answer the questions and the nasty little tricks that MS throws into the mix. The value of the book was also increased by the three practice tests available from the web site. There were a few blatantly wrong answers to review and test questions that definitely need to be corrected though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!, March 31, 2000
This review is from: MCSE NT Server 4 in the Enterprise Exam Cram Adaptive Testing Edition: Exam: 70-068 (Paperback)
If you've already passed the NT server exam and you read this book, you won't have any problems with NT Enterprise. Make sure you know all the stuff in the practice tests at the end of the book and you're set! By far the best exam prep book I've read.

This was the fourth exam cram book that I have purchased and I havn't been disappointed yet. This book has a lot of good information that will help you prepare for the exam. My only complaint is that the chapter on Network Monitor should go into a bit more detail. I got hit with some hard question about examining packets and network monitor usage. It would have helped to have some more detail on these subjects.

I definitly recommend this book to anyone who is pursuing taking the enterprise test.

This is the 5th exam I've taken so far (I took NT Workstation, Server, TCP/IP and IIS 4.0 already). I've passed them all on first attempt without fail and used the exam cram books plus different prep tests for almost all of them (I used the Lisa Donald `Test Success' for IIS). However, for this specific subject I am rather disappointed. I feel that this book did not prepare me for the exam like the others did. I passed at a disappointing 635 (passing score 560-adaptive). The other material I used (MeasureUp.com prep tests) was not that helpful either. Since I'm not aware of any Microsoft changes to this subject since this book was published, I would recommend you look elsewhere if you need a quick study guide. If you know NT already, you'll probably pass the exam with this book. However, if you want to be safe, look for other sources. Perhaps the Lisa Donald `Test Success' did a better job on this subject too. Please note that I will recommend the other Exam Cram books that I've used before (i.e. Workstation, Server and TCP/IP)

Good Luck. Oshri Feldman

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, March 26, 1999

I just finished the exam and the book addressed and emphasized all the topics that would be on the exam. I would recommend it to anyone taking the Enterprise exam.

I worked with the Sybex book first and then concentrated on the exam topics with the Exam Cram Enterprise book.

This book was helpful in passing the Enterprise exam. You will DEFINITELY need some hands-on experience before attempting the exam with this alone, of course you should always have experience before trying any cert. What's the value in being a *paper* cert? Anyway, if you have moderate experience with NT this book can be very helpful in passing the exams. I will definitely buy from the Exam Cram Series again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great help for getting your MCSE, June 23, 1999

The Exam Cram series is famous for its ability to distill volumes of information into a compact book that will help you pass the exam. The only negative we found with the NT series (Server, Workstation, and Enterprise) is that they tend to repeat a lot of the same information between books. We at MCSETutor.com would recommend to buy the four pack as you will save money over purchasing them separately and receive a CD with practice questions. Good luck on your exams!

1.0 out of 5 stars Fine if you want to cheat, April 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: MCSE NT Server 4 in the Enterprise Exam Cram Adaptive Testing Edition: Exam: 70-068 (Paperback)
The people who buy this book will really and honestly use ONLY this probably along with the Transcender to pass the exam. While it is good for that (FINALLY after 5 billion printings and all of the readers technically editing it for free) where will it get you after the fact. Can you use it as a reference - NO? Can you really gain knowledge to help you perform your job and troubleshoot from this book - NO?

Now the people against me will say this - Well we only use this to review for the exam - we have other outlets for studying and practicing. But in this day and age where we are hard pressed for time to get these certifications - the truth is simply this - Get the book - Pass the exam - Get the job - JUMP IN THE FIRE! Wise - No. And the community colleges and training companies know this. But they usually get the people after they have been employed and this costs companies money they shouldn't have had to pay.

But we live in a capitalistic society. This book has a right to be here. The same way Credit Card Companies like Sears, VISA, and Check Exchange have the right to gouge users with interest and inflict financial penalties on people that pay off debts. What they have in common is a total disregard for consequences and ethics.

Their initiative: To play on the weaknesses of people desperate to better themselves through certification.

Purpose: MAKE MONEY (That's it)

End Result: The MCSE becomes heavily diluted. It no longer carries weight. People get jobs but then may lose them due to incompetence scarring their work records. Time is wasted cramming for the sole purposes of regurgitating information when it could have been spent learning the processes.

It is the same lesson many of us did not learn in High School when it came time to do our book reports. The one who actually "read" the Catcher in the Rye benefited the most.
