Sad, really sad, June 30, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: MCSE Test Success(TM): Exchange Server 5.5 (Paperback)
This book is filled with error after error. I contacted Sybex many months ago and they were never able to contact the author. There is still no errata posted on the Sybex Site (as of 6/30/99) and I originally purchased this book back in September of 1998. I sent in 2 lists of errors (one in September and one in October). I now question some of the errors (they may have been technically correct), but many were blatantly wrong. I do not recommend this book to anyone. Get the Study Guide for better coverage of this topic.

Filled with Mistakes, March 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: MCSE Test Success(TM): Exchange Server 5.5 (Paperback)
This book may help you pass the test but OH MY GOD how many mistakes were there in the practice questions! in the sample questions of Chapter 1 alone, there were so many errors my head was spinning. They really should have had an actual Exchange Administrator reading this stuff over! Some of the errors on the practice questions were unbelievable. Here is an example: Which services are provided by Directory Services? [typo - should be "the directory service"] B. Replication of information to all services [typo - should be servers] within a site. C. Write access from POP3 Internet mail clients using IMAGv4 [typo - looks like it should be IMAPv4 but actually it is really supposed to be LDAP] And the answer key lists these as the correct answers! I feel sorry for the person who gets this wrong and doesn't understand why! If you really want to do well on the Exam, get a real Exchange book, and use it to find all the errors in this one! That's one way to get your skills up

A solid book but Study Guide is better, January 8, 1999

Covered Exchange Topics well but lacks minor details in some areas. Contains minor errors. Easy to follow, a solid refresher before the exam.

Not enough administrative information, January 5, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: MCSE Test Success(TM): Exchange Server 5.5 (Paperback)
I'm not using this book for studying for the exam, but I think it's not a good book for professionals. I wish it had more on backup procedures and how to maintain the server.

I would buy it again., October 7, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: MCSE Test Success(TM): Exchange Server 5.5 (Paperback)
This is a good book! Not all of the nit-pick info. for the test is in it, so use it along with the study guide. I wish I would have had read this book first and done the exercises to give me a strong knowledge of Exchange, and then read the study guide to get all the trivial info. for the test. Like I said, it is a good book and I would buy it again.
