5.0 out of 5 stars Hilfe!

3.0 out of 5 stars Would Not Recommend For Sole Source Of Material
This is not the only book you should have! Lots of material considering reference integrity are NOT well cover (1 paragraph). Answers to question are frequently wrong and NOT as well written as the Sybex books. Take your chances here.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: MCSE Training Guide: SQL Server 6.5 Administration (Covers Exam #70-026) (Textbook Binding)
Never used Sql before this book. Easy to follow and the exercises were easy to understand and do. Used it with the On-line books and passed in 11 weeks. Few corrections needed (memory allocation). Found the answers in the On'line server books. This was a good resource. The test questions were good. Do not under estimate this test.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good enough but should be better, October 2, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: MCSE Training Guide: SQL Server 6.5 Administration (Covers Exam #70-026) (Textbook Binding)
I used this book along with Technet(Backoffice resource kit) and the SQL books online to prepare for the exam, on which I scored an 881. I have a couple year's experience with the product, but not 'in-depth', so there were several topics where I needed a good tutorial. This book filled that need and is written directly to the exam 'objectives'; problem is, I don't think the MS exam was reflective of the stated 'objectives'. So there were several questions on the exam that this book didn't prep well for (like application development and SQL OLE, DMF, ODS, etc, and replication--the publishing subscriber model wasn't even mentioned). But reading the corresponding MS documentation with each topic (a LOT of reading!) covers most of the bases. The practice exams were mediocre. I recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best tool to pass the SQL Administration exam, June 28, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: MCSE Training Guide: SQL Server 6.5 Administration (Covers Exam #70-026) (Textbook Binding)
It was easy to read, and it kept one's attention and interest from the start to the end of each chapter. Although I had SQL Server 6.5 support experience already, I was able to read the book and pass the SQL 6.5 administration exam nine weeks after purchasing the book, while working on a contract full time. In the exam, I found that only around 5% of the questions could not be answered from the material in the book. A tip: learn the SQL server configuration parameters listed at the end of Chapter 11 "Tuning and Monitoring".

4.0 out of 5 stars A good package, April 28, 1998

This book provides good coverage in its examples and test-questions from the CD and the book. Like most New Riders books, the editing could be improved. Overall, it does prepare you for the exam. This book also provides an excellent (and necessary !!) companion to the SQL Implementation book also published by New Riders.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's good and 2nd edition could be excellent, March 19, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: MCSE Training Guide: SQL Server 6.5 Administration (Covers Exam #70-026) (Textbook Binding)
The bad news is that the answers to the review questions at the end of each chapter are all too frequently wrong. The good news is that the material is presented well enough so you can catch these mistakes. A clever ploy, perhaps? Other good news: the content is explicitly tied to the exam objectives, the exercises are worthwhile, several chapters are actually fun to read (e.g., Chapter 8:Managing Data), the chapter template is good (intro, content, exercises, review questions), and the authors frequently explain why something is the way it is.

4.0 out of 5 stars SQL Server Training is an excellent resource!, February 3, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: MCSE Training Guide: SQL Server 6.5 Administration (Covers Exam #70-026) (Textbook Binding)
Overall, this book is an excellent guide in preparation for the SQL 6.5 Administration exam. The content is well written, thorough, and contains many great exercises and study questions. The book has 6 authors and the inconsitency amongst them does show from time to time. The overall flow is most preserved though. The chapter on replication could be more thorough, or at least more clearly written. Overall, however, this is an excellent resource and definately a good value for the discounted price offered by Amazon.
