I can't recommend this book ENOUGH if you're going to take the Windows 2000 Professional exam (70-210). Authors did a SUPERB job of filtering out all the unnecessary garbage and getting straight to the point. My time is precious, and I needed to pass this exam to move to a new salary level. This book was the best investment I made! I mistakenly bought someo ther books to help me with this exam also. I returned the others. I will keep this book forever - as a reference it's fantatsic, too!! You really need this book if your goal is passing 70-210 the first time around. Good luck, and thank you to the authors!!!

Dan Holme, Todd Logan, Laurie Salmon, and Dan Balter did a wonderful job with this book - incredibly concise guide to prep you for the 70-210 exam. Great explanations of concepts and how they relate to exam objectives. Easy to understand, good reading and sense of humor. Nice job. I'll buy other books from this same team of authors. They rock!

Never having used Windows 2000 except a very limited time with a Professional Client, I thought the process of obtaining my Win 2000 track MCSE would be an up hill battle. But, with the help of this cram and the 70-210 Study Guide from Syngress / Osborne / McGraw Hill I passed the exam flawlessly.

The only problems I had with the book were minor technical errors that conflicted with my other Study Guide and had to be resolved on the Microsoft site...but I stress the errors were MINOR. I also wish they stressed the unattended/Remote install options more in depth...due to the fact the a large percentage of my exam concentrated on RIS.

But all and all this guide, as well as a decent study guide are enough for a power user to pass this exam with very little problem.

Highly focused resource book with awesome practice questions to help any IT person pass the Windows Professional exam. Clear info, clear objectives, very well organized - didn't waste my time at all, and was a really good buy. I like the authors' style and direct way of explaining the Win2K features. If you're going to take the Pro exam, you need this book for sure.

I spent about two weeks preparing for the 70-210 exam using this book, and I was quite surprised by the score I was able to get. A lot of the questions on the actual exam were similar to the points made in this book. This is a great guide book. I suggest you buy and start using Windows 2000 Professional if you haven't done so already before buying this book - although the book explains things well it alone will not make you pass the exam (you have to play with the actual operating system!!) Coupled with my real world experience, this was a great study guide that helped me prepair for the exam. I passed the test on my first try, overkill actually :) I would recommend this book to anyone that has any networking experience. For those of you who have modest experience, I suggest studying more in depth material to understand some of the logic and concepts of a windows 2000 environment, and than follow up with this exam cram for assesment.

While this serires of books was excellant for the A-plus and Net-plus exams, and an invaluable aid for the Cisco CCNA exam, they have completely missed the mark for the W2K MSCE. I can only assume from the positive reviews I see here that those reviews were for the NT 4.0 version of this book or that MS had changed the W2K exam structure since this book was published. The book gives an excellant high level understanding of the subject and is a great desk reference, but the MS exam requires detailed knowledge to the command-option-switch level, and that sort of detail is sadly missing. The practice and sample exams within also concentrate in straight "how-to" or "why-do" type questions and answers and do not at all prepare one for the "mini-scenerio" question format MS has migrated to on all their exams.
The only W2K MCSE prep books I have seen so far (and I have looked at several) that actully contain all of the technical detail necessary for doing well on the exam is the MS press W2k MCSE prep guide (its boring and hard to stay awake using it, but all the info that might come up on the exam is definately in there). Unfortunately, this Exam Cram book falls far short of having the info needed.

With years of experience on NT and using W2k Professional for over a year, this book handled each new topic to a level that is required on the test. This book is sufficient for the experienced user to pass the Microsoft Test with flying colors. Four of the example questions were EXACTLY like the questions on the actual test. This book will properly prepare you for the new testing format Microsoft has implemented. Get it today and pass the test as soon as you read it.

I read this book in the two weeks prior to taking the 70-210 exam, I am currently taking classes at a local college for the MCSE certification, I have all the Microsoft Official Curriculum books and I can tell you that this book is a lot better than the MOCs.

Not only brings all the MOC material together in a very concise way, but makes it easy to understand and digest.

I have a couple years experience as a Help Desk Support technician and I used Windows 2000 extensively, but I still learned a lot of last minute details on this book.

I highly recommend it to anyone looking to obtain their certification.
