2.0 out of 5 stars Not sufficient in and of itself for MCSE test preparation., September 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: MCSE : Windows 95 Study Guide (Hardcover)
This book will introduce you to all of the concepts covered by the Microsoft exam criteria; however, if you rely soley on the contents of this book for test preparation you will be re-taking the exam at a later date. The MCSE exam questions are quite lengthy and detailed. I found the Windows 95 Resource Kit a better tool, and a critical addition to my professional library. Forget this book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a Good Book to Read if You Want to Pass the Test, March 13, 1999
This review is from: MCSE : Windows 95 Study Guide (Hardcover)
The Topics and Questions in the book did not prepare me adequately for the exam. I did every review question in the book and on the CD, and they were nowhere near as difficult as the actual exam questions. I was very disappointed. The thrust of the actual exam deals with how Windows 95 machines interact with NT Server and Novell NetWare. The questions are often scenarios where the exam-taker must analyze many details and choose multiple correct answers. The book's study questions were a joke compared to the real exam. The book was mostly about the OS itself, as a separate entity. The only thing that saved me on this test (which I barely passed) was my limited experience with WindowsNT. You need to know a lot about NT and Novell to ace the test.

In preparation for the remaining tests, I will definitely buy books which readers gave 5-star ratings, and do a lot of hands-on preparation. The MCSE program is too challenging to have second rate study materials. Don't follow my example. Do your homework before you buy an exam-preparation book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Book Review, January 5, 2000

Pretty Good. Lots of good information for beginners. Kinda boring for experienced users or administrators and support people.
