So what's new? We've replaced virtually all of the review and bonus exam questions with more challenging questions that better reflect the difficulty of the actual tests; we've added Real World Scenarios to provide additional insights into the intricacies of planning for and designing a Windows 2000 network with Directory Services; and we've added Exam Essentials sections to each chapter, where key exam topics are highlighted. All this in addition to significant improvements to the overall instructional quality of the book.

Very Disappointed,

This review is from: MCSE: Windows (R) 2000 Directory Services Design Study Guide (Hardcover)
Even though I have always loved the books published by Sybex, I must confer that I am very disappointed with the lack of useful material contained in this book. There was no in-depth coverage on any of the critical exam topics and after reading the book I can assure you that you will not pass the exam based on this book alone.I had to purchase books published by another vendor prior to taking the 70-219 exam to fill in all of the holes left by this book. I am happy that I passed the exam, but upset that I had to read more books than necessary to do it. Thanks, but no thanks Sybex!

Not impressed,

After reading this book, I have to admit I am very disappointed. The text is superficial and has no in-depth gems to share. There are no references to information that can be found on this topic on Microsoft's website. A good study guide should, in my opinion, learn students how to find information on their own. The CD exam contains errors (I found two cases where the case studies and the questions don't match up, making the 'exam' practically useless). My recommendation is to steer well-clear of this one.

I would strongly recommend using a book from another publisher. I have normally had a great deal of success using prior Sybex study guides, but I was very unhappy with this particular one. I used it as my primary study guide, while using the Resource Kit to fill in the holes, and wrote the exam. I failed, and this was my first failure in fifteen IT exams. The book is not detailed enough in covering important exam topics. The CD, cases, and "test" questions were far more simplistic than the exam, and the information provided was NOT sufficient to pass 70-219. I considered the information in the resource kit more useful and technically complete than this Sybex book. Steer well clear of this book if you wish to pass this exam. You may find more use out of it as a high level design guide during projects, than as a complete study guide.
