5.0 out of 5 stars Great Price, Great Value, Good info...
Well, got it at an auction. To my surprise, it was quite good. The others who gave bad reviews are probably the expensive trainers that want to discourage people from buying this CBT. Buy it, is worth every penny if not more. Got my MCSE with this program's help. Of course there is no substitute for experience. Which I got 10 years of.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sadly, not up to scratch anymore.
I thought this would be good value - earlier reviewers seemed to think so.

Unfortunately, the implementation of this is really not that great. Essentially, you're just presented with huge amounts of information, exam by exam, with little realisation that there's a large amount of crossover for each of the exams. As such, it's a long and laborious read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Content, So So Testing Software..., October 19, 1999

The format is a little dated, still good content for the money. It is good value. Don't expect everything to be perfect. But good place to start. I used trancenders as my practice test solution. Buy it as a starting point.

This is not a cheap way around paying for good books on the MCSE exams - unfortunately, your money is better spent on Alan Carter's Windows NT 4.0 MCSE Study Guide, and then other books for the electives

5.0 out of 5 stars Point and Click MCSE Training & Testing, March 27, 2000

Well, I did alot of research on this one. I spent the big bucks (3,000+) for courseware and online mentoring. Save your money and buy this book with three CDROMs. Very methodical course outline, train as you go, testing needs a bit more "umph", but good place start for actually learning and preparing for MCSE. It was great highlighting the online text and saving it to my MS word file. I created my own MCSE study guide with it. Best deal going. Also, all the course ware is on CDROM. Easy to keyword search. The kit comes with two books, one is the user guide and the other MCSE Core NT Exams (very useful). If you really want to be smart, buy this MCSE Course ware and with the rest of the money get yourself a new NT pc, and you can get MS BackOffice 90 day evaluation for free at the MS site. I always said to myself, if I could help someone make it...I would. Because what comes around goes around. Good studying and I hope you find this Complete kit as good as I did.

4.0 out of 5 stars It is dated, August 24, 2000
This review is from: MCSE +internet Complete V 1.2 Bundle (Paperback)
but it is so easy to understand. Every topic is explained well and in such a way that it is really hard not to get the point. What this cbt does well is to explain the basics so that the student understands the topics instead of memorizing them. Somebody in the previous review has written that the A.Carter study guide is the one to get.... I have used that book and sold it after reading 2 chapters... i.e. I trusted the reviews!!! No way!! the only thing that I don't like of this package are the practice exams.

2.0 out of 5 stars MCSE + Internet Complete Version 1.2, March 20, 2000
This review is from: MCSE +internet Complete V 1.2 Bundle (Paperback)
Firstly I'm not a trainer trying to sell an expensive course. I'm just a guy whose trying to get the six retiring subjects done before Dec 31 this year so I bought this book. I have to say that I'm somewhat disappointed with it!

Whilst the User Guide is excellent, the information on the CD-ROM could be much better laid out (The New Riders paper books are a good example of what I mean). Also I question the value of the two audio CD's with practice questions on them, although I suppose they could be used in the car.

I've ordered the paper books (New Riders et al) for my studies and whilst I'll use this e-book at times, from what I've seen of the New Riders paper books, they are a much superior product.

Also two of the core subjects and three of the electives are now bit dated. The core subjects are Windows 95 & Internet Explorer 4 and the electives are SQL 6.5 Admin & SQL 6.5 Database Design and Exchange Server 5. The fourth elective however is Exchange Server 5.5. (No mention of Proxy Server or SNA Server by the way)

I must say however, that the box does have a nice bonus in it in the form of Matthew Shepker's book "MSCE Core NT Exams Essential References". Whilst it has the odd hole or two in it's contents, as a ready reference this is a great little volume, albeit not on it's own worth the purchase price of the whole item.

Also the program CD-ROM has one really frustrating quirk which, had I known about it beforehand, I would have thought very seriously about not buying it. The install program lets you install all eight core MCSE + I subjects supplied and then will only let you install two of the four electives supplied (It's the same as requiring the purchaser of a 12 volume set of paper books to throw out 2 of the volumes before they're allowed to open the othe ten volumes). My question to the Publishers is why on earth did they include such a restriction?

1.0 out of 5 stars Out of date!, September 21, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: MCSE +internet Complete V 1.2 Bundle (Paperback)
This book is simply out of date now. Having got 100% on all the practise tests in this book, I only got 66.6% on the real test. There were questions on subjects not covered by the book. A surprise? most definately

I just got back from the testing center with a "FAIL" 53%! The software test is NO where near the exam! I was scoring 90%+ on the software testing. The book that is in the box by Matthew Shepker (MSCE Core NT Exams)is very informative and the best part of the deal!

This is an excellent study course to certification! After reviewing a few of these certification courses, some costing in the thousands of dollars, this is well worth the money. All 12 course objectives are covered and more! You can't beat this one for the price! Quite an improvement over V1.1

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Value for Money, June 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: MCSE +internet Complete V 1.2 Bundle (Paperback)
Reading materials is clear and concise. Study mode includes chapter quiz, study cards and flash cards. You can always reference back to your reading materials for answer to your question. Test questions are drawn randomly from the database, so you have a different set of questions every time you do your practice exam. There are more than 5,000 questions to test on your knowledge. A good supplement to a regular study guide. What's more, at this price, you are paying for 10 full courses. Bravo!
