Also, Don't buy based on any of the other glowing reviews listed on this product because they are for a DIFFERENT product.
Whoever is supplying this product has done a clever bait and switch. I have been buying this exact Amazon item for the last 8 months, and it has been Dr. Friedlanders pharmaceutical grade MCT oil. I just received my latest order, and it has been switched for "Life Enhancement Functional Gourmet MCT Oil".
I've never heard of this company. I have no idea if they make good products. I have no idea if the MCT oil is high quality or cheap like the NOW brand. If you search google for the Life Enhancement MCT Oil you can easily find it available for $20 a bottle - yet they are selling it here between $32 to $50!!
Whoever is fulfilling these orders cleverly switch the title but left the "by Dr. Bernd Friendlander" at the top of the page.
Will be returning immediately.
Also, MCT oil is fantastic for topical use. I keep a small spray bottle of the MCT oil in my bathroom and use it on elbows, heals, knees......and anyplace that has the tendency to be dry........ and that is a lot of places in the winter time. I give a light spray and rub in. I need no other body moisturizer as MCT works tremendously. It is also odorless so only your skin knows that it is there.
First, the product image is/was deceptive. I was under the impression I purchased Dr Freilander's MCT oil, but recieved a dif brand. I have no ideal if the same standard.
Second, only some shrink wrap on bottle - no safety seal under the screw cap. Causes concern especially because..
Third, I tried a sm amt in my smoothie & had terrible pain & deep cramping in my gut for 20+ hrs after ingesting the MCT oil. Had it been tainted? Had it spoiled? Unlike Dr Frielander this product must be kept cold aft opening, it arrived basically open.
I have contacted Amazon customer service & requested a refund. will return and hoping they honor their 100% satisfaction guarantee printed on the label. If they do not honor it I will update this review with that info.
If you zoom in on the picture (using your browser...the Amazon/Seller version of the zoomed picture is still very small), you will see the Pearson/Shaw names. However, one should not have to go through this trouble - especially when the description states "MCT Oil - Pharmaceutical Grade, 32 fl. oz. by Dr. Bernd Friedlander".
I will say that when I compare the ingredients, they appear to be the same...however, Dr. Freidlander's oil says it does not need to be refrigerated.....the Pearson/Shaw oil says to refrigerate.
Two, additional notes: 1) you can find this oil (Pearson/Shaw) on the internet for $21, and, 2) you can find Freidlander's oil on his site - just search for his name and MCT Oil.
Update: 4 May 2013: I found that one of the sellers may have been accidentally listed under this item. Be sure to check the "More Buying Choices" link on the right - this is how you can tell whether the product listed is what is actually being sold by the seller. No, we should not have to do this...but, hey....mistakes/things happen.
I never force myself to eat breakfast, so I naturally fast for about 16 hours with or without the MCT oil. I eat a very healthy diet--paleo basically, except I don't have loads of money and time to get the finest grass-fed pastured meat or 100% organic produce. (I do my best and get the highest quality I can.) The MCT oil fits in with this diet very nicely and has bumped up weight loss. I'm down a couple of pounds and could see going on longer fasts with no hunger or fatigue. If I weren't nursing a little baby, I'd jump on a Bulletproof-style rapid fat loss protocol, but I am resigned to being fluffy for awhile longer.
Anyway, I am amazed at the real, tangible difference I feel when I add this to my morning coffee. It works for me; hopefully it works for you.
