THIS is the DC's Best Game,

Soul Calibur is fantastic. Jet Grind Radio is innovative. Metropolis Street Racer is addictive. However, looking back now that the DC is fading away, MDK2 is the system's best game. Why didn't more people buy it? The visuals are unmatched in console gaming. Even the PS2 version of MDK2 is graphically inferior. The sequence where Kurt must glide from platform to platform is absolutely jaw-dropping...and that's on the FIRST LEVEL. The alien city of Swizzle Firma looks like it was taken straight out of The Fifth Element -- vehicles buzz everywhere with no looping or random placement. Everything, from the glowing tip of Max's cigar to Shwang Shwing's snail-like spacecraft, is rendered with meticulous attention to detail and loving care. Forget Gunbird 2 and Bangai-O. Good games in their own right, yes, but they can't compare to MDK2's challenge. This is the Ultimate Hardcore Game. Climbing the tower with Max's jetpack on level 8 or diffusing the bombs as Doc Hawkins on level 6 will take any gamer a loooong time to complete. But the game always rewards your efforts by taking you to another fantastic environment and presenting a task that is guaranteed to raise your blood pressure. The feeling of victory and accomplishment when successfully navigating these challenges is what gaming is all about. As games become more mainstream, they are becoming easier in order to recruit more fans. A major tip of the hat to BioWare for crafting the first visually stunning 3D game that retains the challenge of 2D games of the past. The PS2 version of MDK2 contains helpful hints (like Big Red Arrows saying SHOOT HERE) that make the game less than what it's intended to be -- really a shame. The ONLY negative comment I have about MDK2 is that the levels with Kurt are slightly more creative and fun than the Max and Doc levels. I think that if MDK2 had been 10 levels of Kurt, it would have easily been my Favorite Game of All Time. Still, the Top Three isn't bad....control, visuals, audio, even the ludicrous story are all some of the best in the industry. MDK2 is a gorgeous, genius mix of reflex-driven action and brain-numbing puzzles that no gamer should pass up.

Modern game developers are ever-trying to find something new to create... and while even some of those rehashed games can be very fun, MDK2 offers something that is wildly original (though you wouldn't guess it by the title) and remarkably enjoyable. The controls take a while to get used to but after an hour or so, they feel natural, like you're not even using the bulky Sega controller. If you have money to blow, I highly suggest this game. Though I was a bit put out that Shiny isn't actually doing the game, I feel good about Bioware now that I've seen what a remarkable job they've done. The game allows you to control one of three charachters in their own levels. But their stories are interconnected so when one person wins a level, another charachter will have to take over. The game is just plain funny, and not just eye-rolling or bad-translation funny, the things you often have to do or that happen to you is hillarious. In short, buy it.

I'm a very old school video gamer. I love games like Kings quest and Space quest. I also enjoy 007, but games like that loose their interest fast. MDK2 is a wonderful video game. It rates five stars in every catagory. Control, Sound, Graphics, Re-play value, and Story line. The controls are wondreful, I've read regviews that they were to flawed and hard to handle, but it is so smoothly done, it's like yourf there. The sound is great, it fits the character, Max has an awsome Matrix-like soundtrack. If you use headphones, you can hear every little thing, the music, your character, the enemys, generaters, whatever. The graphics really take advantage of the system. They are very detailed, down to the inscriptions and patters on the floor, it makes you feel like your there. I don't get tired of the action, and I certainly don't get tired of the video sequences. The game is diveded up so you can go to bassically any paoint in the game you want to play again, the video sequences are all accesible in the main screen. It's witty and cool, and anyone who says different, just didn't pay attention.

I have just beaten this game and I have to say that completing MDK2 was the most rewarding experience on the DC yet. I absolutely loved the idea of playing as three different characters, each with their own style. It was like playing three games in one! This varied gameplay greatly helps dull the feelings of frustration and anger that you will probably be feeling towards the game about halfway through. The extremely difficult levels that rely on coordination and fast reflexes rather than the traditional puzzle solving of recent games transported me back to the golden age of crazy 2D action scrollers where the only rule was to shoot first and ask questions later. No mid-level cutscenes. No extensive character development. Just 10 levels of hardcore action. The controls, which use A B Y X for movement and the analog stick to move the camera are intuitive for this type of game and anyone who can't master these controls during the tutorial shouldn't bother trying this game, as the learning curve is steep. I won't dwell on the graphics, because I'm sure you've heard that they are some of the best on the DC (which is true, by the way), but I will say that this game makes me proud to own a Dreamcast. Rent this game, and you will most probably be hooked.Tight controls, the most elaborate, creative boss battles ever, and varied gameplay make this the most fun I've had on the Dreamcast yet! Definetly check this out (DONT be scared by the difficulty) Rating: 10

If you're looking for an easy game that you can blast through in a couple of hours, *don't* get MDK2. This is a tough-as-nails game that will have you ready to toss your Dreamcast out the window before you finish. But if you're looking for a good challenge, great graphics, and some excellent gameplay, then get MDK2. It's obvious that this game was a labor of love by those who developed and produced it. The depth and variety of gameplay is amazing. While this is only a one-player game, it is probably the best one-player game that's ever been produced. MDK2 incorporates 3D platform jumping, puzzles, spray and pray shooting, and sniping; Plus some old-school minigames thrown in for good measure. You get to play as three characters across ten levels; in level 10 you get to choose which character to use. Each of the three characters (Max, Kurt, and the Doc) has his own unique capabilities. This is a tough game, but don't think it's just for hardcore gamers. Given some time, anyone could complete MDK2.

I have been waiting for a game like this for the Dreamcast. It is everything a great game should be and more. Yes it is a little difficult but why spend the money for a game if you can beat it in a day. The sound track really gets ya going into the game also. A must have for anyone who likes the action adventure shooter type game.

first of all i dont understand why everyone does not like the controlls. ask any expert gamer and he will tell you that these controls are more effecient thatn the "prefered" fire with a button and move with a stick. Also what bugs me is why everyone is complaining about the difficulty. It is just right being easy from the begginning and jumping into harder areas. The character creation is brilliant makes a refreshing mix of comedy, action, and comic books. buy this game and i gaurentee you will not be dissatisfied

The graphics are smooth and intense. The controls, even though initially confusing, are pretty good. I've gotten pretty far in this game as well (8 out of 10 levels completed) after playing many, many hours on this game.Sound good, right? Wrong! The difficulty of the Dreamcast version is terrible. I had been in the console/computer game business a while back, and one of the main flaws I noticed is that computer game developers are hardcore gamers, developing games for hardcore gamers. This is a classic example. ... Given enough time, many people could pass this game. However, there are limits. After all, it's just a game, and should only take a maximum 100 hours to complete. This is well beyond the 100 hours. Unless you live and breathe video games and you find ninety-nine percent of all games too easy, stick to another game. I cannot stress this enough! It is nearly impossible to complete for any normal person!

MDK2 brings back the challenge which most games of today are missing.Unlike most action\adventure games which get beaten after a day or two; MDK2 will keep you busy for a long, long time! A game that lasts! The graphics a verry impressive, the soundtrack is one of the best so far, the controls are intuitive and are great to handle, amazing story line with funny cut-scenes, play one adventure through 3 diffrent characters with their one diffrent playing styles, hidden secrets and above all this game is pure originality. MDK2 is a callenging game, so if you don't like action\adventure games where you get into tough spots; this game is not for you. But if you're a hungry gamer who wants a game that lasts and has challenge that will keep you busy; this games for you

MDK: Murder, Death, Kill Myself,

This review is from: MDK 2 (Video Game)
Let me tell you, this game is great in many ways... absolutely stunning graphics, 3 unique characters, a fun premise. So why only three stars? This game is unbelievably, totally, ...-crazily, ludicriously, ridiculously hard. I can't tell you how frustrating it is. I gave up. The enemies are so hard that you think they are bosses, and soon, you actually come to a boss and you just play over and over, and over, and over again...and it never helps. So, I was so mad, I stooped to the lowest level, and no...MDK2 is not supported by Gameshark. So, unless you are a game master over the age of 16, I don't recommend this game.
