Product Description

You play Kurt, an androgynous, leather-armor clad, leaping, action figure with a machine gun hermetically sealed to his wrist. The third-person perspective shows the action from above and behind, a la Tomb Raider, with the action taking place in about fifty-five different settings - mostly large, wide-open locations which make a refreshing change from the confining corridors of Duke, Doom, Quake, and the rest. The variety of the wild 3D graphics and colors create a continual sense of amazement and wonder. You'll encounter locations from the ethereal or surreal to the gritty or pastel, with reflective surfaces, translucent walls, and gorgeous backdrops. The bad guys are all true 3D, and most have a similar, metallic look, but their actions and tactics vary, giving you plenty of diversity. . . System requirements 90 MHz CPU, 16 MB RAM, 37 MB available hard disk space, Windows 95 (WIN), Direct3D or 3DFX Glide compatible video card (optional)

4.0 out of 5 stars Old School FPS that still delivers today, April 21, 2005
A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: MDK (CD-ROM)
I first played MDK back when it was being shipped with iMacs, and was blown away by it then. This game is awesome. Period. It's like the FPS games of today, but takes up minimal space on a computer and isn't as graphics intensive. But it doesn't need to be. The environments are very well done, as are the enemies and the main character.

Unlike some older FPS games, there is a great mix of puzzle and kill-everything-in-the-way. Sometimes you take on armies of robots, tanks, and spaceships. In others, you have to find how to get to the door to the next room. And while sometimes the puzzles take a bit to figure out, they aren't overbearing and the game picks up afterwards.

There are also two things that I have yet to find in other games which are present in MDK. The excellent sniper mode, which while a little slow is relatively easy to use, and the air raids. Twice in the game, you have the option of jumping into a plane and flying over fields full of angry robot aliens. And, subsequently, blowing them up. Then you can run through the field you just nuked and pick up powerups, etc. on your way to the next area.

If you have an older computer, especially an iMac, get this game. It is a classic shoot-up aliens game that although a little dated, still kicks. Together with the decent story, neat environments, and simple concept, this is a game that even today's gamers should enjoy. Not to mention that you can play the levels over and over again, and still find new little secrets and power-ups that aid you in your quest to eradicate everything in your path. It's also got this streak of bizarre weirdness (which I find refreshing in a time where these games are taken so seriously). For instance, you come into a room where all your enemies are asleep. Also, to get a huge health boost you must chase a box with feet that sounds like a monkey. And if all else fails, you can drop a cow on your enemies while snowboarding. (it really happens, trust me.)

Great old game. I highly recommend it. MDK rocks.

5.0 out of 5 stars I remember this great game from years ago!, December 10, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: MDK (CD-ROM)
MDK was one of the first computer games I ever played, and as such is one of the most fun I've played. The sniper mode is amazing! It's good to see that there are those that are still preserving this unique game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still great., November 3, 2005
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: MDK (CD-ROM)
This is a great game and still one of the few FPS games I like. Oh and if you beat it on the PC you get a video by a french band. I spent months trying to find out who it was. In case you needed to know it is Billy Ze Kick (hence MDK BZK). Have Fun.
