Book Description

December 20, 1999
This book is written for first-time FEA users (in general) and MECHANICA users (in particular). After a brief introduction to finite element modeling, the tutorial introduces the major concepts behind the use of Pro/MECHANICA to perform Finite Element Analysis of parts. These include: modes of operation, element types, design studies (analysis, sensitivity studies, organization), and the major steps for setting up a model (materials, loads, constraints, analysis type), studying convergence of the solution, and viewing the results. Both 2D and 3D problems are treated. The tutorial uses a click-by-click format to show the command sequence exactly as performed by the user for a wide variety of models and design studies.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great for the beginner., May 8, 2000

This review is from: Pro/MECHANICA Structure Tutorial, Release 2000i (A Click-by-Click Primer) (Paperback)
The book is great for a beginning user of Pro/MECHANICA. I found the book to be very helpful since I am a new user of Pro/MECHANICA, but also found it to be somewhat limited. I know that Pro/MECHANICA has a lot of integrated features, but only the basics are mentioned in this book. Also, the book only covers structure analysis, and does not cover thermal or motion analysis.

3.0 out of 5 stars Limited but helpful, February 23, 2001
This review is from: Pro/MECHANICA Structure Tutorial, Release 2000i (A Click-by-Click Primer) (Paperback)
This book does a good job of explaining how to set up structure analyses and common pitfalls. It's clear and well-illustrated but not very broad. Advanced topics are covered in passing (springs and other idealizations) at most. But it's still a good book, and it doesn't take long to get up to speed with.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very good for begining, January 28, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Pro/MECHANICA Structure Tutorial, Release 2000i (A Click-by-Click Primer) (Paperback)
I have read the book and I found it the best for beginning. There are also many things which author have not include such as techniques for materials with anisotropy (assembly mechanica), or modal - shock - dynamic analysis. Beam Idealization with elements of masses and springs is not covered. The only analysis wich covers is static.
