This is a great game (although Mechwarrior 2 was the best of the series). I rebought this classic because I was so nostalgic, but was unable to get it to work on Windows XP SP3.

It was announced 7 days before I bought it that mechwarrior 4 would be released for free online for the 25th anniversay of battletech. That's what I get for not keeping up on the news.

If you can get it to work, I highly recommend the game.

Mektek is working on several projects: AT1, adding the final touches to their fourth and final Mechpak for Mercenaries, bringing back a lot of older tech like MASC, and finishing with working out the bugs, and working on getting their servers upgraded to deal with increased download and online game play traffic. So it may be a few months before Mektek is ready to release the MechWarrior 4 download.

Got this as a replacement for an older disk that, well let's say My "ex" accidently on purpose stepped on it. Well I ordered it here and was looking forward to playing it again. opened it up took out the Vengence disk, booted it up and... bam-- Got my game back,
Then I took out Black Knight and the disk had a crack going all the way through. Bummer !!
I figured that at least I have 'Vengence', and I knew I still had 'Mercenaries' so at least I got half of it back.

Back in the day this game was one of the premier Microsoft titles. Excellent campaign, awesome online multi-player and very faithful to the source material. Well thanks to MekTek, the Mercenaries version is back and Win 7/Vista/ compatible. You don't have to wonder where all of the good games have gone. Dust off your joystick and prepare for some massive metal mayhem. The game is just as good today as it was a decade ago, plus MekTek has polished up the engine and given us some new Mechs to enjoy, some of which are the classic Unseen. And if you know what means and what Mechs they are without having to look them up then I just have to ask you why you haven't downloaded this game yet? I hope Microsoft and Jordan Weisman were watching when the updated game was released in May. Demand crashed the server and overwhelmed the capabilities for several days. That means we still want these games, please keep making them and support MekTek's efforts.

Yeah, this game is a bit older and I remember playing a lot when I was a little bit younger, but I forgot how much fun the MechWarrior series was.
