Product Description

The CC51 uses a new 6.0mm micro-driver that delivers full, accurate, detailed sound and, when housed in ceramic, eliminates resonance that might cause distortion-inducing harmonics resulting in a natural sound. Due to the driver being located very close to the ear, driver size does not limit reproduction of full range sound. Ceramic is an extremely hard, durable material that does not resonate in audible audio frequencies like other housings, resulting in a very clean, clear, ear-pleasing sound, while looking fantastic and holding up extremely well to wear and tear. The clarity series in-ear headphones reproduce music that is clear and accurate sounding with good detail and enough bass to please most, yet not overpower the rest of the spectrum. Ceramic Housing for Accurate Sound Reproduction

Simultaneously groundbreaking and breathtaking, the MEElectronics CC51 are a first of their kind to use ceramic housing to such dramatic effects and are a must-have earphone for casual or passionate audiophiles. With its unconventional ceramic housing, the CC51 not only looks sleek and stylish, but also eliminates resonance resulting in a clear and clean sound. The CC51s are designed to be in a class of their own with its beautiful ceramic housing and innovative engineering. Using a new 6.0mm micro-driver that delivers full, accurate, detailed sound, the CC51 is then housed in ceramic to further eliminate resonance that might cause distortion-inducing harmonics. The result is a stunningly sleek and sexy earphone with a fantastic sound production to match.

Ceramic is an extremely hard and durable material that does not resonate in audible audio frequencies like other housings, resulting in a very clean, clear, ear-pleasing sound, and holds up extremely well to wear and tear, while looking fantastic. With the CC51's driver being located very close to the ear, driver size does not limit the reproduction of full-ranged sound.

  • Acoustically inert ceramic housing has no resonance in the audio frequencies resulting in a very natural and accurate sound
  • Just the right amount of bass - not too much, yet not lacking, translating well for all genres of music
  • Choose between two classic color options of pearl white or ebony black that make the CC51 visually stunning to look at
  • White gives you the clean Apple look, while black gives you the feel of sleek and expensive ceramic watches

If you are looking for natural, pleasant sound with a little extra boost in the bass to go along with very natural tone and timbre, look no further than the CC51Ps. The powerful, yet balanced full-range 6.0 mm micro-driver deliver high levels of accuracy and dynamics while maintaining accurate sound and detail without overpowering the rest of the spectrum.

Achieve Perfect Fit and Seal

In-Ear Fit Guide

Sound quality and bass response are dependent on the seal achieved between the ear tips and your ear canal. Please try the various sizes of ear tips included with your earphone to determine which gives you the best sound and comfort. The sound may change depending on the insertion depth and tip size.

To achieve proper insertion, pull up and back on the top of your ear (helix) and/or use a slight bit of lubrication/moisture on the outer part of the ear tips, which will help achieve the proper insertion depth and angle. If you feel your MEE earphones do not have bass or sound tinny, the fit and/or seal is more than likely problematic. You can visit the MEElectronics online product manual for more information and assistance.

Burn-In

Many owners have stated that the sound may improve with use when compared to the out of the box sound. This change in sound will occur with normal listening and is not necessary; however you can accelerate this process by playing music at a normal volume continuously for the first several days.

Intro
Please keep in mine that this is my opinion based on my subjective ability to hear, as well as my preferences. I received this as a review pair from MEE, they can be purchased on their website for $79.99. Primarily I am a classical music listener, because of this my bias is for analytical, balanced phones. Please keep this in mind. However I listened to a lot of non-classical music for this review as I recognize that is the proper context for these IEM's. With that said the genres I listened to varied, from Prog Rock, Rock, Jazz, Drum and Bass, Dubstep, Down-tempo, Vocal, Pop, Folk, Country (Little Big Town). Equipment used was a Rockboxed Clip, Rockboxed Fuze, and a Dell latitude E4300 Laptop, files used were MP3 VBR -0, 320K and streaming 192k Shoutcast.

Specs
* Driver: 6.0 mm micro-drivers
* Housing: Ceramic housing with aluminum nozzle

* Connector: 3 pin stereo 3.5mm gold plated 90° plug
* Cable: solid color 130 cm cord (51 in) with attached shirt clip

Packaging
The Packaging was different then what I am used to from MEE, the box was thin cardboard, the headphones were nestled in plastic that is felt lined. A nice change of pace from the clear all plastic box I am used to. No tools were needed to open the box.

Accessories
Small Medium Large and dual flange tips are included as well as a clamshell case and shirt Clip. As noted on their website, please be careful when removing the shirt clip.

Color Name: Black Verified Purchase
First off, if you do a Google search for "176 IEM reviews", you'll quickly stumble across a wealth of information that led me to choosing MEElectronics CC51s to replace my busted Klipsch S4. I made the mistake of trusting CNET, who are quite often way off on their reviews. For instance, for wireless networking, they gave their highest rating to a Linksys N160, which, based on user reviews, is famous for weak signals, and dying within a month or two of purchase. Anyway, the Head Fi audiophile site lists IEMs (stands for In-Ear Monitors, I believe?) by price, but can easily be sorted (using the search function of your browser) by Accessories, Build Quality, Isolation, Microphonics, and Comfort. I'm writing this review, however sparse, in the style in which the Head Fi site does, though my scoring will likely be more fanboyish, as I was completely blown away by the style, isolation, and clear sound that came from these tiny headphones.

Accessories (4/5) - It comes with a carrying case and multiple silicone earbuds (the ones already installed worked best for me). Would have liked to have seen a triple flange and a foam option, but what was packaged is working out nicely so far.

Build Quality (4/5) - I'm no designer, but these are the most attractive IEMs I've owned. The ceramic (hard to find in the US below $200) build feels sturdy, but the cord breaks from typical MEElectronics design and is thinner than I would have liked, though so far relatively tangle resistant. Word of caution! DO NOT TRY TO REMOVE THE SHIRT CLIP! Many a reviewer, much less a plebe like myself has stripped the cable trying to remove it.

Isolation (5/5) - Doesn't get any better than this.

===========================
I have been wanting the CC51s for a very long time as what I think is one of the best looking earphones that are supposed to sound great as well. I enjoyed the M6s from the same company, so I was looking forward to what kind of product they would release for something that seems to retail at twice (or at times, 3-4 times) the price of the M6. And I have to tell you, I'm a big fan of meelec. I had their M6 (accidentally dropped a computer on it at work), using their CC51s right now, gifted the HT-21s and A151 to friends, and managed to convince several other people that the M6 and M9s are the way to go for budget IEMs.

One day, I was finally gifted the CC51s and I was overjoyed. I'm not a big fan of the whole dividing the sound into bass/mid/treble/soundstage, etc, and plenty of people with better ears than mine have already done that sort of review. I'll give a general impression.

--Sound-- (Edited to emphasize the positive points of the CC51's sound)
There's a jarring sound difference between bass-heavy IEMs like the CC51 and something more balanced (on hand, I have the Ultimate Ears 500). That's not too say the CC51s are overwhelming in bass in any way, in fact I enjoy the amount of bass in the CC51s. But for some reason "clarity" to me seems to imply a focus on treble or some sort of balanced sound signature, and so coming in with that mentality, the CC51s surprised me with its bass-oriented sound signature. Coming from a balanced set, you might feel like the CC51s feel too boomy (not muddy) in comparison. Vice versa, if you switch to a balanced pair afterwards, "balanced" will sound tinny and shallow.
