Achieve Perfect Fit and Seal

In-ear Fit Guide

Sound quality and bass response are dependent on the seal achieved between the ear tips and your ear canal. Please try the various sizes of ear tips included with your earphone to determine which gives you the best sound and comfort. The sound may change depending on the insertion depth and tip size.

To achieve proper insertion, pull up and back on the top of your ear (helix) and/or use a slight bit of lubrication/moisture on the outer part of the ear tips, which will help achieve the proper insertion depth and angle. If you feel your MEE earphones do not have bass or sound tinny, the fit and/or seal is more than likely problematic. You can visit the MEElectronics online product manual for more information and assistance.

Many owners have stated that the sound may improve with use when compared to the out of the box sound. This change in sound will occur with normal listening and is not necessary; however you can accelerate this process by playing music at a normal volume continuously for the first several days.

Customer Questions & Answers

Customer Reviews

The sound quality is very good.
You cannot hear yourself talk while making a call (when you are using it as iPhone mic/headphones) which makes it disorienting for phone calls.
Warm rich sound with plenty of bass and clear mid/highs.

Let me start out with the cons, and then I'll end my review with on a high note by giving the pros:

1) You may notice that with its everyday use, the right earphone may get weaker until it suddenly breaks down.
2) The microphone button may be difficult to operate because when I click it I get the "Voice Control" feature in my iPod Touch which should only appear when I "hold" the button not touch it.

1) With a price below $20, you'll never get a quality sound like this
2) The sound isolation is great
3) Last but not the least, my experience with the customer service is very satisfying. They will send out a new pair of earphones right away when you email them about your problems. They respond very quickly and intelligently. This what makes them stand out.

Conclusion: BUY THIS M9P earphone or any MEElectronics products. These products may have some few temporary weaknesses (who doesn't) but I assure you that they continue to innovate and they really care about their customers.

The M9P IEMs hail from a small California-based company by the name of MEElectronics. They produce a wide range of IEMs that cater to different users with various sound signatures. The M9 and M9P IEMs are among the most inexpensive products available and are currently selling for $20 and $23 respectively. I decided to buy the M9P IEMs because they not only function as earphones but will also have use as a headset for my cell phone and iPod Touch. After breaking them in and listening to them with a variety of music in my collection, these are my favorite IEMs in the sub $30 price range and are fantastic earphones for the price.

Technical Specifications

Driver: 9mm dynamic driver
Frequency Response: 20Hz - 20KHz
Impedance: 16 Ohm
Sensitivity: 95dB/mW
Cable Length: 1.2m/4ft.

Packaging/Accessories: The M9Ps come packaged in an attractive transparent box and include a bevy of accessories including a hard zippered case, a cable wrapper, four sets of silicone eartips which includes a set of biflanges, a shirt clip and an airline adapter. Considering that the M9Ps only cost about $23, MEElectronics has included a highly impressive accessory package that puts many other inexpensive IEMs to shame.

Design and Build Quality: The M9Ps feature lightweight aluminum housings which feel durable and are ported at the rear to allow for more air flow. This helps with the low end response and the soundstage but cuts down the isolation.

The cable is perhaps the best I've seen on any IEM. It's lined with what appears to be delicate braided silver wiring inside and coated with a transparent plastic coating that both looks very attractive and makes it feel very durable.

Recently I bought 3 earbuds at various price level to compare the sound/price ratio, here's my take (in order of my personal prefernece):

1) Sony EX300: With 13.5mm driver & cost only forty five bucks this buds provide the fullest music across all spectrum of frequencies. Tight bass & decent mid/high level without any colorization provides very good balance & true reproduction of music (especially if you encode your music in lossless format). The cable is not traditional Y type so you should leave cable behind neck, decent volume output & sound detail which is very close to the performance of over the ear studio monitor style headphone. It's not good for use in gym since the cable will be tangling down on your left side which may interfere with your left hand movement during workout. Wire is soft rubber style which is very soft to touch & it won't produce any noise while walking. It's a solid earphone in terms of built quality.

2) Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10: For ninety five buck this is my second pair of UE headphones (also owned a SuperFi 5vi), the high sensitivity level gives it the loudest/clearest volume output among all three tested, TripleFi 10 provides better sound isolation than Sony EX300, but with more than twice the price tag of Sony, Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10 seems lacking both the lower/higher end frequencies in comparison with Sony EX300 during my A/B switch test.

These in ear headphones are a lot of fun! The first thing that impresses is the packaging. It comes with a nice MEElectronic's carrying case with several alternate earphone sleeves. I really appreciate the sturdy, tangle resistant flat earphone cable. I have owned a couple of pairs of high end Shure earphones that had very disappointing build quality, but these are solid. The L and the R could be a little bit bigger on the earphones, but I found them.

These earphones feature rich, resonant bass, and it is not a muddy distorted bass, it is pristine foot stomping bass. The propulsive bass line in Flo rida and T-Pain's "Low" was amazing, And the drums and bass line hit hard on Run DMC's Walk this Way. Michael Jackson sounds great on these earbuds. The bassline in Billie Jean is awesome, and the vocals are crystal-clear.

The Bee Gees greatest hits sounded excellent on these earphones, especially the dramatic bass/drum introduction to "Jive Talkin," and the powerful disco of "You Should be Dancing" and "Staying Alive."

The mids are somewhat recessed, which is both a plus and minus. It's a plus because it allows you to hear more clearly the articulate treble. You hear the shaking of tambourines in the Beatles "Hey Jude," the tapping of percussion and cymbals on Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams," and Rhett Miller's breathy vocals on "Complicated Man." The highs are nicely detailed for $40 earphones, a tiny bit brash on certain crunchy classic rock tunes, but not overly so.

But because the mids are somewhat recessed, some singer/songwriter 70s acoustic pop songs and ballads sounded slightly less lush. John Denver's "Rocky Mountain High" had extra oomph in the bass, but sounded a bit rougher.
