4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent Back-Up device
This device is a great item that I would recommend to any serious gamer with a Game Boy -- especially a serious RPG player or Pokemaniac. On Pokemon, have you ever beat the Elite 4 and trained your Mewto, Dragonite, etc. up to Level 100 only to have your game accidentally *erased* by your little brother or because you yanked out the cartridge without turning the power...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Pokemon accessory!
The Mega Memory Card is GREAT for games like Pokemon that save where you are at in the game. Pokemon only allows one person to play the game at a time. With this card, more than one person can have a game going without buying another game.

This device is a great item that I would recommend to any serious gamer with a Game Boy -- especially a serious RPG player or Pokemaniac. On Pokemon, have you ever beat the Elite 4 and trained your Mewto, Dragonite, etc. up to Level 100 only to have your game accidentally *erased* by your little brother or because you yanked out the cartridge without turning the power off? Well, this item solves that problem. At certain points in the game, you can BACK-UP your game. This way, if your game gets erased, you can pop in the Mega Memory Card, restore your game, and start where you left off! However, I gave this item 4 stars instead of 5 because the interface isn't very intuitive. I'm a college Computer Science major, yet I still stumbled through the clunky menu at first. Once you figure out what's going on, though, backing-up and restoring games will become second nature.

I bought this memory card brand new in the box it said it could save over a 100 different games let me know what the other 68 games are that it CAN SAVE will be greatly appriated thank you.

So for those of you buying this memory card for whatever GB System you have whether it be a GB, GBC, GBA, or GBA SP remember if your buying this to see what all games it can save do not get the games that have passwords on them you'll deeply regret it. If your only buying games that this memory card can save then get games that don't have passwords. If your buying both type's of games ones with passwords and ones with out keep the ones with passwords to 1 side and the other games that are a save as you go type by them selfs like for an example as save as you go it mean games like Pokemon and a few other differen't types of games believe it or not but Pokemon games are not the only games they did that with making them save as you go types they also did it with Mario and few Disney and Nickelodeon games for the GB and GBC too.

Well get this Memory card if you have a lot of SAYG games.
By the way SAYG means save as you go.

5.0 out of 5 stars game boy player, February 5, 2000

Alright, i know what you have been thinking. With some of the other reviews, it has not worked properly because they don't use it right. For games such as pokemon pinball, just put it in for a few minutes to save the data, then take it out and put it in the gameboy normally. Also, there is an option which let's you have the copy of a game. You can just name things like Pokemon1, pokemon2... Instead of deleting everything. There is plenty of space.

It is an excellent device that lets you save up to 100 slots of gameboy data. It is especially useful to a gamer that plays rpgs. In pokemon, there is only one slot, so you can save it, and if you make a mistake you can just load your game again. For Dragon Warrior Monsters, if you are about to breed, you can save the game and if you don't like your new monster, just load the previous save file.

It may be a little inconvenient to turn it off, flip the switch, save, and then play the game, but it is well worth the little wait.

Just try not to abuse it, and put abnormal games in it. For such a price at amazon, i recommend to buy it before it goes away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works fine! Great for Pokémon Players, October 22, 2000
By

This review is from: GBC MEGA MEMORY CARD (Video Game)
This is a fantastic device! There is a really good use for it now that Pokémon Gold and Silver out. In Pokémon G/S you can import your Red/Blue/Yellow Pokémon to your new G/S gamepack. But the problem is that in the import process your best R/B/Y Pokémon will have to be swaped with a weak Pokémon from G/S. But with the mega memory card instead of losing your best R/B/Y Pokémon you can just restore your gamesave and now you have your old Pokémon on both games without any loss.

As for the user unfriendliness issue, the device is easy to use if you just read the instructions. It sounds like some people are too rough with their gaming equipment. I wouldn't recommend the mega memory pack for kids 10 and under because they would most likely brake it. I myself am 19 and think it works great on Pokémon games. If your a older Gameboy player like me, you should have no problem using the mega memory card.

5.0 out of 5 stars When used as intended, works great, February 15, 2000

The problem most of the other reviewers had seems to come from either not reading the directions all the way or trying to leave it attached while playing the game instead of just using it only during the actual backup/restore. If you want to overwrite backups with the same name there is a setting that forces them to be unique you can turn off. Some might consider this protection a feature. I wouldn't advise giving it to anyone under 10 or 12 to use on their own, but that isn't who it is intended for. Perhaps many parents are not aware that almost half GameBoy owners are over 20..

4.0 out of 5 stars Mega Memory Card: Everything you need to know, December 8, 2010
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: GBC MEGA MEMORY CARD (Video Game)
Works on GB and GBC games but you can load it on the GBA.

How it works: The Mega Memory card backs-up saves FROM the cartridge. You cannot save directly to the Mega Memory card.
You must turn on the memory card with cartidge attached and back-up your save.

Test your cartridge through the memory card by turning the memory card switch off. Verify that your game plays before going to memory card mode, or else you may back up a corrupted save and DELETE YOUR GAME if you restore the corrupted data.

What it does:
-Allows you to create multiple save files for games like pokemon where you can only save one game per cartridge-

-It does not provide save states for games without save features, meaning you need a game that can already save (Zelda or Pokemon not Super Mario Land or the first Kirby)-

-Not a perfect substitute for changing the games internal battery-

Sometimes you may have a game that every time you turn it on, the saves are all deleted. This means the games internal battery has died and it no longer has the ability to save. However the battery can be replaced, (just google it).
Providing your game does not delete itself within about 2 minutes, you CAN back it up onto the Mega Memory card (Because you have to turn the system off, then turn on the memory card, and then turn the system back on.) But if it instantly deletes itself upon being shut off, the memory card will not save it.

Overall the Mega Memory card works extremely well for what it can do, but is not a substitute for replacing the internal battery.

This is one of the best accessories that I ever bought! There are many features that help you make your gaming experience even better. It's very simple, even though it takes a few minutes to get the hang of it, but it can do amazing things. Clone Pokémon, alter time if you goof up, and so much more! I enjoyed every minute of it.

Seriously!
I`ve got DMG and GBC with BleepBlop USB cartridge and GBCamera and they both works perfectly!
I can save my GBCamera photos to the MMC-card, then to USB-cartridge, and then directly to my PC.

+ It takes up to 20-30 seconds to backup or restore your .sav-file (GBCamera or LSDJ with 2-3 songs on it) - extremely useful for GB-musicians;

+/- MMC-card can hold up to 3 GBCamera saves (~30 photoshots) with 2-3 .sav-files with LSDJ songs (If you know what im talking about). Not too much as I wanted too, but still better than nothing, you know :)

- The another minus of this device - it makes my battery run out too fast. If yor battery is running out MMC plugged into DMG will make both down. So its better to keep your batteries charged not less than at 30%.

My experience with the Mega Memory Card has been a positive one. It has worked with all the games I have used with it (quite a few, and the interface is simple enough (so simple it actually borders on being minimalistic) for most to figure out. So, it serves its purpose, and it serves it well, as far as I know. Other reviewers have mentioned certain games that this product won't work with, but it seems to work with all of the mainstream games that you may want to back up (Pokemon, Zelda: Link's Awakening, Metroid II, etc.)Overall, I would recommend it to anybody that has been considering getting one, although I'm taking off a star from the final score due to the "meh" interface.
