3.0 out of 5 stars Nice Sound, but Confusing Controls
First of all, there are different models. Mine comes without a CD burner but with a nice front-loading cassette player, not that creepy side slot. The manual is rather sketchy, and it took me the longest to figure out how to even turn the contraption on. Turns out the volume knob is also the on/off switch. Numbers are marked around the volume knob, but no mark on the...

I bought this Brand New although I really like the style and yes technically it does record to CD from Turntable and Cassette player and nicely so. However, I have tried 3 different brands of CD's and these Recorded CD the Memorex Nostalgic Stereo, Turntable, CD Recorder 5 in 1 makes will not play on any other CD player or Computer CDRW as of YET, I have not found ANY Brand of CD-R, or CDRW that will allow me to play them except of course for the system it is recorded on. If Anyone has ANY idea how to get around this problem and which CD's it will allow you to use to play on other players PLEASE let me know.

First of all, there are different models. Mine comes without a CD burner but with a nice front-loading cassette player, not that creepy side slot. The manual is rather sketchy, and it took me the longest to figure out how to even turn the contraption on. Turns out the volume knob is also the on/off switch. Numbers are marked around the volume knob, but no mark on the knob to indicate what volume you're at. Yes, very cheap and sleazy; this could have been done better.

The turntable and cassette player seem to operate fine with BEAUTIFUL sound, and the CD player is also good. One drawback is it seems the needle is unique to this model, and the manufacturer doesn't seem to support this product, so can probably never be replaced. (I did at least get an answer to my complaint filed with Memorex.)

One of the main reasons I bought this was the advertised "Auxiliary input for connecting another audio source," as I planned to get an iPod at some future point. It's this phrase which is misleading. It has input but NO OUTPUT. After looking everywhere on it, the only jack is for the earphones, and no connector exists to make this work the other way round and put sound from another source out through the speakers. The speakers are good, but impossible to play your iPod through. And, of course, I had the stereo a long time before getting the iPod, so no returning it. Should come with a BIG, FAT WARNING, BUYER BEWARE, NO AUDIO OUTPUT label!

1.0 out of 5 stars Memorex Nostalgia CD Recorder Model 9290BMMO, October 4, 2008
This review is from: Memorex® Nostalgia Stereo (Misc.)
While this machine records quite well it is very unsatisfactory in that whenever the recoding level drops a new track starts. One song will often be recorded in 8 or 9 segments with subsequent pauses in the playback. This does not make for good listening and wastes too many blank CD's. . Perhaps there is a way to prevent this but, if so, the directions are so badly written I can't see it.I am very surprised that a company with the reputation of Memorex would sell such a product. At present I have been unable to find any information about how to get in touch with the company. I'd like my money back.
