this is my second round w/ an ipaq and find this case both slimmer and more funcitonal. take care to note one slot is type-1 only while the other is type 1/2.

The MEMPLUG 2 CF sled looks to be the cats meow. It becomes a smelly old tomcat when you try to use it. Many on the market (the two I bought and one a friend bought) come with bad firmware that requires one to visit the MEMPLUG website and spend about 15 minutes downloading the replacement firmware. Not difficult but a warning sign none the less. I bought the MEMPLUG to use an 802.11b card by D-Link (DCF-660W) and a 256MB CF card. Out of the box it could not find the 660W at all. With the new firmware you must reboot the iPAQ to get it to work properly with the 660W. When you start the iPAC from sleep, about 40% of the time the unit hangs up and the screen goes nuts for anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes. Other CF packs work fine but only the MEMPLUG exhibits this behavior. I have tried two of them so it is a design flaw and not just a bad unit.

MEMPLUG's support stinks. Their software people give excuses such as: "We cannot test all cards." This might be valid for obscure cards but not for CF devices made my major manufacturers like D-Link. Since I use my iPAQ in a waterproof and shockproof housing (Otterbox 3600), the fact that I have to frequently reboot and/or reseat the DF is a genuine pest. Had MEMPLUG been responsive and shown an interest in fixing their bugs I would have given them **** but bad tech support only earns them a **. So, as a 25 year computer professional, I suggest others shop around and only buy the MEMPLUG if it is the only thing that works with their pocket PC. (BTW my DCF-660W works great with my Compac single port CF pack so don't let MEMPLUG snow you saying you a defective or nonstandard device. That is what they tried to tell me.) I thought that it was great. With a 1 gig CF card I could store all of my music and pictures and have ton of memory left over. I really like it because when I need to upgrade to wireless internet or bluetooth all I need to do is get a CF card and plug it in. In the past I had to use two or three secure didital cards and carry them around every where I went, now all I need is one CF card and I am on mt way.
