There is only so much that men really want or need to know about menopause. However, like it or not guys, ‘the change’ changes us, too. As 40-plus million women of the baby-boomer generation approach menopause, countless millions of baby-boomer men find ourselves reluctantly along for the ride. Our wives, lovers, coworkers, and friends are in the throes of physical and emotional upheaval. Our relationships are being redefined in the process. If menopause has yet to impact your life—trust me, it will. Since we have to face it, let us do so as informed and fully engaged partners in the process.

Return To Sanity!

Finally someone can explain to me what has been happening to me physically for the last two years!

High blood pressure, unexplained weight gain while exercise and diet have remained pretty much the same, splitting finger nails which used to be thick and very healthy, loss of sexual desire while being more deeply in love with my husband, stress incontinence while sneezing or coughing, etc. This loving and courageous husband undertook the task of trying to explain menopause to other men who were at a loss with what was happening to their wives while undergoing this wonderful time in our lives and ends up answering questions that even my female physican (who is probably near my age and experiencing perimenopause, too) didn't, wouldn't or couldn't. I kept thinking all these new symptoms were due to the meds for my predispositon to the family history of high blood pressure and high cholesterol but now believe that perimenopause is more the issue.

Not only did I learn more about myself, the "sharing the burden" dialogues of other "sisters" going through this made me feel like I was experiencing a female support group. I feel less alone, more normal and more free to discuss this with others.

It was genius on the part of the author to write this book for men, thereby encouraging and giving permision to share this book with my husband (who also loved it). Not only do I feel that he understands more what I am going through, we now seem to be able to talk about it more freely. He would no longer believe that I am doing this on purpose or that it is something that he is doing or not doing. Thank you Chris!

I now know that my frequent bouts of short term memory are not due to early Alzheimer's. Chris's use of humor allows a potentially very depressing subject to be more palpable. He reassures us that with menopause being only "one" day, that hope exists and that I will cross over and be free from many of these very annoying symptoms. God bless you Chris! Oh what a relief it is!

The author also includes an extensive resource list (many relevant websites) so that you can research this subject matter further. I highly recommend this for a very easy, humorous as well as an informative read for both men and women! Definitely a book for all menopausal baby boomers. I have brought several copies to give as gifts to my friends.
