In 2009, the Merrell Intercept was designated the "World's Most Comfortable Shoe". Although I was rather skeptical of that statement, I bought them based on customer reviews that expressed simialar sentiment. Upon receiving them, I was really very impressed with the craftsmanship put into them. These are serious shoes, folks. I decided to give the comfort award a field test of my own.

I now know why they received that award in 2009. I can honestly say these might be the most comfortable shoes I've owned. They're especially comfortable on trails, which is where I'll mostly be using them. I ran trails, walked hills and steep inclines, climbed rocky cliffs. They're exactly what I wanted. They're not feather-light. That's a positive, by the way. They're substantial hiking shoes with a design that's conducive to trail running. But they're not too heavy like boots can sometimes be.

One small caveat: they run small. I wear 10.5 US size shoes and I ordered an 11 based on the many customer reviews that state they run small. My 11's fit perfectly the way 10.5's usually do. Order a half-size larger than your regular size and you'll be fine.

Super Comfortable and Durable takes a little time to break them in but once you do they are like an extension of your foot you feel as if you were a ninja with these babies you can take on any terrain really! Great shoe i recommend it!

extremely comfortable right out of the box. the sneakers do seem to run a size small, but after figuring that out i am very pleased with them so far. i havent done much hiking in them yet but, walking the dog and an occasional run on the local track they are perfect.

The shoes are great and the fit is perfect, but the best thing about this purchase was the customer service. I was leaving for a trip a few days after I placed the order. I called their customer service and was assured that I would receive the shoes before my departure. I did. I appreciate their attention to my needs as they went above and beyond. Good look and feel. Really support foot, especially arches. Had a blister during break in period, so lace tightly. Kind of disappointed to see they're made in China, but workmanship seems good, regardless.

The Merrell intercept I ordered in size 9.5 fit me perfect right out of the box (and I am size 9.5, D). They felt a little tight at first but conformed to my foot dimensions in under an hour(!). I have always liked the Merrel line of shoes and intend to be a repeat customer in the future, as I have never had a bad experience with their products.

I'm not an expert on the hiking shoes, but the bottom line is everyone needs to find the shoes that fit perfectly for your feet - not only the size but also the shape, especially for walking rigorously for a long time like hiking. In this sense, I'm very happy with this purchase.
I wore the shoes first time while I'm hiking in Ricketts Glenn State Park (PA) last Sunday for 8 miles and 4 hours, and up/down many muddy steps/slops near 22 waterfalls! The shoes didn't disappoint me at all.
Only one more thing is that I wish this model has choice of 8E (wider shape) for the customers.

You know how so many shoes rub that one spot or has that seam in the wrong place. Not this shoe. Great. Wish they made shoes for the office!
