It would not work on the recommended station, but I saw someone suggest setting the radio to 99.7. That did the trick, and the sound now comes in clear for us with little static. However, they have to hold the ON button in order for it to work, which causes a bit of an annoyance. :(

We have had this toy for quite some time and it is still as much fun as the first day. I put a cd in her dvd player for background music and tuned the radio so she could sing though that and she felt like such a rock star!!

It is hard to find the right station to make this product work. There is also the background music of the station playing and your mouth has to be super close to the tip and very close to the radio to play. Sometimes you can hear through it and sometimes not. The idea of a microphone though is fun for kids and most of the time they just pretend their voice is carrying on.
